ALDERMAN MARY S. HANKINS KERMIT R. MARTIN Service Awards Presented To 40-Year Employees' Three employees have completed 40 years of service with the Company and each of their 40-year anniversaries came on the same day. It was on October 21, 1929, that Mamie R. Alderman, Mary S. Hankins and Kermit R. Martin each was employ ed by the Company on a permanent basis. Mrs. Alderman had worked as a fold er at the Blanket Finishing Mill as early as 1923 but resigned. She has been a blanket sewer during virtually all of her years of service. Since 1963 she has worked as a sewer-overedge cellular blankets. She is a native of Chatham County. Mrs. Hankins, who is a native of Eden, was a sheet inspector at the old Bleachery from 1929 until 1935 and then worked as a folder for the next several years. She was transferred to the Sheet Stock Department at Central Warehouse in 1943 to ticket, sort and tape sheets until 1950. Since the latter date she has been a sheet packager. She was transferred to the new Sheet Fin ishing Mill in 1962. Mr. Martin, a native of Price, began work as a carton strapper at the Blanket Warehouse and continued there until he entered military service in World War II. He was in service 1944-1946 and upon his return became a blanket packer. He was a second hand for sev eral years and since 1960 has ke assistant foreman in the Blanket ing Department at the Blanket Waf house.
