J. C. RICHMOND J. J. MANNS L*. / • II C. R. THOMPSON New Appointments Announced At Karastan In supervisory appointments at the Karastan Rug Mill, effective May 1, James C. Richmond was named a shift foreman in the Setting Deparment, Jesse J. Manns was appointed a shift foreman in the Dyeing Department and Charles R. Thompson was named a shift foreman in the Finishing Department. Mr. Richmond, a native of Rocking ham County, graduated from Ruffin High School and served in the Navy from January, 1956, until January, 1959. He has attended Rockingham Community College. He joined Fieldcrest in April, 1967, as a mechanic in the Blanket Mill Plant Service Department. He later resigned Heads Jaycees but rejoined the Company in February, 1971, as a supervisory trainee. After completing that program he received his assignment to the Karastan Mill. Mr. Manns, a native of Stoneville, graduated from Douglas High School and attended A & T State University for three years. He was employed in the Beck Dye Department at the Blanket Finishing Mill in March, 1964, and op erated various machines there until he resigned in 1968. He was employed in the Karastan Dyeing Department in September, 1970, as a scouring operator and served in that capacity until his recent promo tion. He took foremanship subjects in the supervisory training program, this spring. Mr. Thompson, a native of Eden, graduated from Morehead High School and attended Rockingham Community College for one year. He worked brief ly in the Sheeting Mill Weave Room starting in 1966. He was employed in the Cutting and Sewing Department of the Bedspread Finishing Mill in March, 1967, and worked on various production jobs. He was a cutter immediately prior to en tering the supervisory training program in February, 1971. Bobby Brooks, a regional manager in the Fieldcrest Canteen Service, was installed as president of the Eden Jay cees at the group’s 23rd annual instal lation banquet held recently at the Moose Lodge. Other Fieldcresters installed includ ed Ray Sharrow, Auditing Department, secretary; Don Henry, Bedspread Mill Weave Room; and Jim Hubbard, Bud get Department, directors. Rose Show Planned For Fieldcrest Store The Eden Rose Society’s 12th annual Rose Show is scheduled for Saturday, May 22, from 1:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Fieldcrest Store, Eden. Entries will be accepted between 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. and awards will be announced at 7:30 p.m. John R.
