The All Stars, formerly the Shiloh Eagles, were organized four years ago by Sam Broadnax, a roving hauler in the Blanket Mill. Their season records indicate that the team is getting strong er each year. Manager Broadnax feels this year’s team is the best yet. “We have the strongest hitting club of its type in North Carolina and wc keep getting new and better player.'' every season,” he said. Manager Broadnax feels his team h" lost all the games it should lose this season. “We’ve beaten all the teams left 0 THE ’CREDIT UNION on our schedule,” he said, “or we’ve beaten teams who have defeated them.' Among the most valuable players on the All Star team are Manuel Hairston, first baseman; Terry Simmons, center fielder; Leroy Galloway, assistant man ager and third baseman; Ray Simpson, pitcher; Ed Roberts, pitcher and short stop; and Scottie Carter, catcher. First baseman Hairston is both a good “glove man” and a strong hitter. He is responsible for at least 10 home runs this season. Both Galloway and Sim mons are also heavy hitters as well as good ball handlers. Ray Simpson, who is playing his first season with the team, has established an unusually good pitching record of 11 wins, one loss. Because of the increasing number of games the All Stars are scheduling each season. Manager Broadnax is looking for a field that can be used as a stadium. He asks that anyone having a field ap- approximately 8-10 acres in size and in terested in leasing it to the All Stars, write Sam Broadnax, 1134 Irvin Av enue, Eden.
