Prizes Drawn For ‘Fair Share’ Contributors The picture above shows a scene at the drawings for prizes among the names of Fieldcresters who pledged a Fair Share in the Eden United Fund campaign. Pauline McBride, Blanket Mill Wool Spinning, hands a ticket to Raven Ellis, an area personnel manager who was vice chairman of the campaign at Field- crest. Looking on are representatives from the various mill divisions. From left to right, observers are Vera Smith, Channel Blanket Department, Blanket Finishing Mill; Joe Holliman, Jr., Sheet Finishing; Payton Cruise, Sheeting Spinning; Addie Light, Bed spread Spinning; Fleta Martin, Bed spread Finishing; Arthur Brown, Kar- astan Weaving; Hazel Shipton, Blanket Packaging, Blanket Finishing; and The odore Strange, Non-Woven Mill. Names of the winners of the prizes were printed in the last issue of The Mill Whistle. In first aid class, left to right, first row, are: Dennis L. Jenkins, Hilda Smith, Helton Saul; second row, Oliver Jeffries, Michael Boes; third row, Gladys Bryant, Edna Hopper and Lucille Simpson. Instructor is Lloyd Bolt, medical technician in the Medical Department. Bedspread Group Receives First Aid Training Eight employees of the Bedspread Mill completed a first aid course taught on October 12 and 13 in the Bedspread Mill conference room. The four-hour course was a condens ed version of the standard 10-hour Red Cross first aid course and was develop ed jointly by the Medical and Safety Departments. This condensed course concentrates on emergency situations most likely to occur in an industrial plant. The purpose of the instruction is to provide, in each mill, a trained first aid attendant for each shift in each department where there are a suffi cient number of employees to warrant this. First aid training is also done in conjunction with fire brigade training. Courses are taught by Lloyd Bolt of the Medical Department and, on occa sion, by Sgt. Alton Wilson of the Burns Guards.
