V P*5fc ■*f»' v^; • t i?3S¥i Gracious Life^ Theme Of New Karastan Ad Series The “gracious life” with carpets and Ss from Karastan is the theme of a advertising campaign being launch- °y the Karastan Marketing Division k. “^ajor magazines and newspapers '‘Ij spring. Thi two-page ad features in full- color Karastan’s “Ultimeau” carpet and “Persian Hunting Design Rug” as photographed on location, in a palatial home on Biscayne Bay in Florida. The headline reads: “Biscayne Bay is the gracious life. Karastan makes it that way.” Wilson Is Elected Cancer Crusade Chairman / • CHARLES C. WILSON “Cancer strikes one in every four Americans,” said Charles C. Wilson, newly-elected chairman of the Eden Cancer Society drive. “We hope Eden residents will keep this staggering sta tistic in mind when they are called upon to make a contribution to the Can cer Crusade.” “A goal of approximately $12,000 has been set for Rockingham County and a generous response by the people of Eden and the county will do much to help the Cancer Society in its intensive efforts to conquer cancer,” he said. Mr. Wilson, who is assistant manager of employee benefits at Fieldcrest, join ed the Company in October 1967 as a personnel manager trainee. He served as personnel manager at Karastan Spin ning Mill, Greenville and at the Auto matic Blanket Plant in Smithfield be fore being appointed to his present po sition. While in Smithfield he served on the board of directors of the American The copy notes: “Lavish carpets made with pure wool arc just naturally the consideration in a setting this opulent. “And, since gracious living is such an individual thing, the carpets are Karastan, naturally.” The balance of the copy describes the Ultimeau carpet and the Karastan Or iental design rug illustrated. The ad vertisement relates the history of the Persian Hunting Design, a re-creation of a 400-year-old “masterpiece” which can be seen at the Austrian Museum for Applied Arts in Vienna. This ad is appearing in leading na tional magazines including American Home, House & Garden, House Beauti ful and the New Yorker. In. addition it is running in the rotogravure Sunday magazine sections of newspapers serving major Karastan markets across the country. These include New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, San Fran cisco, Washington, Detroit, Boston, Cleveland, Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, St. Louis, Miami, Seattle, Phoenix, Hartford, Denver and St. Petersburg. Cancer Society, the board of directors of the United Fund and was chairman of the board of the Community Action Agency. He was also head of the In dustries Association of the Boy Scouts of America.
