In a change from last year’s arrange ment, each membership includes swim ming lessons and swimming privileges without extra cost at all three Eden YMCA pools, the new indoor pool. Dra per pool, and I^ewis Street pool. In addition to the above types, mem berships are available in the Health Club (men and women) and in Friends of Youth, a plan whereby an individ ual buys a membership for some young person he wishes to sponsor. Friends of Youth memberships, cost ing 45c per week or $1.80 per month, are contributions for the benefit of needy or underprivileged youngsters and are tax deductible. The new Eden YMCA Family Center, located on Kennedy Street, offers its members over 150 activities including clubs, classes, teams and camps. Gen erally, the “Y” hours are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. The comprehensive recreational pro gram is designed to meet the needs of the entire family, children and par ents, young and old, providing for phys ical fitness, recreation and relaxation. In the building fund campaign in 1969, slightly over $900,000 was raised, with $400,000 coming from a challenge gift by the Fifildcrest Foundation. In the fund drive, Fieldcrest employees contributed $220,000, exceeding their original goal of $150,000. Vacation Pay Will Total Over $1 Million Vacation pay for production employ ees in Fieldcresfs southern plants will amount to $1,221,972, a tabulation by the Payroll Depaitment shows. The ex tra pay will be distributed along with the regular paychecks this week. A breakdown of the figures shows that $633,101 in vacation pay will go to 3,274 employees in Eden and that $229,902 in vacation pay will be dis tributed to 1,103 employees of the Fieldale Towel Mill. The vacation pay, combined with the employees’ regular pay and the monthly paychecks of salaried employees, to be paid Friday, vdll amount to approxi mately $2 million to be disbursed by Fieldcrest in Eden on Thursday and Friday of this week. At Fieldale, the combined vacation pay, employees’ regular pay, and the salaried employees’ pay will total $529,196 to be paid this week. The vacation pay for a majority of the employees, those with five or more years of continuous service, will be lour percent of their past year’s earn ings. This is the equivalent of about two weeks of extra pay. Two percent of their past year’s earn ings or about one week of vacation pay will be paid to employees who have worked as muen as one year but less than five years. Fieldcrest was one of the first textile companies to provide paid vacations for employees. Vacation pay has been is sued each summer for approximately 30 years.
