Fieldale Makes Donation To Cancer Society The Fieldale Comffnunity Fund has made a contribution of $1,200 to the Martinsville-Henry County Chapter of the American Cancer Society. A check for that amount was pre sented to representatives of the local chapter in an informal ceremony at the Fieldale Tc.wel Mill. The check v/as presented by Hazel Mitchell of the Sewing Department and Robert Mosley of the Carding De partment, members of the Fieldale Com munity Fund Committee. Accepting it for the Cancer Society were Christine Bennett, and Katherine Hensley, of ficials of the i-cal chapter. The Fieldale Community Fund earlier made contributions to the Heart Fund RCC Textile Graduate Receives Promotion Daniel R. Thompson, who has just completed the two-year Textile Tech nology and Management program at Rockingham Community College, was promoted to shift foreman in the Kar- astan Weave Room effective June 5. Mr. Thompson has been employed at Karastan since June, 1965, working first as a loom assembler. He next was a fixer-in-training and became a loom fixer in February, 1969. Following his promotion to shift foreman he be going through a Karastan Orientation and Department Training program as additional prep aration for his supervisory duties. Mr. Thompson is a native of Rock ingham County and a graduate of Wentworth High School. and the March of Dimes. Additional al locations are to be made to the Mar tinsville-Henry County United Fund, the Fieldale Fire Department, Fieldale Rescue Squad, the Crippled Children’s Ward at Roanoke Hospital and other agencies and services benefitting the people of the Fieldale area. Under the Fieldale plan only one so licitation is made in the Fieldale Towel Mill each year. The money raised in the campaign is used for the Fieldale Community Fund and other authorized fund drives. The funds are administered by a committee composed of representatives from the various departments of the Fieldale Towel Mill. DANIEL R.
