Wool Spinning Group Is Honored For IVi Million Safe Man-Hours Employees of the Wool Spinning Department at the Blanket Greige Mill enjoyed a “safety break” in celebration of their outstanding record of over 1 Vi-million man-hours without a lost-time accident. There has been no disabling injury in the department since September 24, 1965. In recognition of the employees’ fine safety performance, a table was set up in the center of the department and free coffee and doughnuts were served to employees on all shifts. Congratulations were extended to the employees by D. R. Johnson, superintendent of woolen system yarn manufactur ing, and D. P. Gambill, section foreman of wool spinning. Hopkins, Jr., from supervisory trainee to shift foreman in the Cutting and Sewing De partment at the Blanket Finishing Mill has been announced, effective June 1. Mr. Hopkins first joined Fieldcrest in 1963 and worked on various produc tion jobs in the Cutting and Sewing, Beck Dyeing and Piece Dyeing De partments. He later was an assistant foreman in the Cutting and Sewing De partment before resigning in 1968. He rejoined the Company in June, 1971, and worked as a supply clerk until May of 1972. At that time he be came a supervisory trainee in the Cut ting and Sewing Department. He is a native of Eden and a graduate of More- head High School. Vicki Bennett Awarded Four-Year Scholarship ■4 KEN STEWART Ken Stewart Honored As Outstanding Student m Auburn University at Auburn, Ala., has announced that W. K. (Ken) Stew art was selected Outstanding Senior in the Aubur.n University School of Textiles for 1971. The award i.s given for all-around excellence as a student, both scholas tically and in extracurricular activities. Mr. Stewart received a $50 Savings Bond and an inscribed plaque. A native of Stevenson, Ala., Mr. Stewart received his BS degree in tex tile management from Auburn in June, 1971. He joined Fieldcrest Mills im mediately after graduation and works in the Quality Control Department as a quality control engineer. ■ Vicki Bennett has been awarded ® four-year scholastic scholarship to ^ California college of her choice, by State of California. Vicki is a 1972 gr^^' uate of the Duaite High School. Sb® plans a career ;,n the nursing profsS' sicn. Vicki is the daughter of Shar*’^ Bennett, small package wrapper at tb® Los Angeles Service Center. ■ Joins Air Force Chuck Gauer, warehouseman.
