Chapman Elected Board Chairman Richa-.d P. Chapman, of Boston, was elected chairman of the board of di rectors of Fieldcrest Mills, Inc., on Au gust 16. He succeeds G. William Moore who resigned to devote additional time to outside business interests. Mr. Moore continues as a miember of the board. William C. Battle remains as president and chief executive officer of Field crest Mills, Inc. Mr. Chapman is retired chairman and chief executive officer of the New Eng land Merchants National Bank. In ad dition to the chairmanship of Field- crest’s board of directors, he presently serves on the boards of numerous com panies including Amoskeag Company, Arkwright-Boston Manufacturers Mu tual Insurance Company, Bird and Son, Inc., Bird Machine Company, Mutual Boiler and Machinery Insurance Com pany, New England Mutual Life In surance Company of which he is chair man of the finance committee.
