Two Employees Complete 40 Years’ Service LOUISE AUSTIN August is a month of important ser vice anniversaries for two employees of the Fieldale Towel Mill. Eldridge O. Thomas of the Yarn Prep aration Department, completed 40 years of continuous service August 20. Louise Austin, of the Sewing Department, will complete 40 years of uninterrupted ser vice August 31. Mr. Thomas has been presented the Fieldcrest diamond-and-gold 40-year service emblem, a $40 gift certificate at the Fieldcrest Store and a letter of commendation from President William C. Battle. Miss Austin is to be present ed similar awards on her anniversary date. Mr. Thomas has continuous service since August 20, 1932, and had worked at the mill even earlier. He operated a warper until he entered military ser vice in World War II. He served in the Army for four years and upon his return in 1946 became a spooler fixer. He has continued to work in that classification to the present time. Miss Austin joined the Company as a spreader in the Sewing Department at the Fieldale Towel Mill August 31, 1932. She shortly thereafter was transferred to the Hosiery Mill where she worked as a turner and as an examiner until the Hosiery Mill was closed in 1955. She returned to the Sewing Department in 1955 and worked on various jobs. She has been an inspector and folder-terry tips since 1966. New Reporter Is Named At Greenville Plants Dale House, personnel clerk in the Karastan Spinning Division, has been appointed the Greenville reporter for The Mill Whistle. Employees of the Greenville plants and offices are invited to give Mrs. House their news, pictures and “Buy . . . Sell . . . Swap” items for publi cation in The Mill Whistle. Mrs. House has been employed with Fieldcrest since December, 1970, and earlier was in secretarial work at Pltl County Memorial Hospital. She is a graduate of J. H. Rose High School in Greenville and attended the Univer sity of Maryland. She is treasurer of the Pitt County Humane Society and her husband, Gra ham House, acts as an investigator for the society. They are particularly inter ested in horses. Mr. and Mrs. House own four horses and are the proud holders of many blue ribbon awards won at area horse shows.
