Dexter Wood, the Company’s new est 50-year employee, received 50-year ®6rvice awards at a luncheon in his honor at the Meadow Greens Country Club Tuesday, September 12. Mr. Wood, of the Cutting and Sewing h'epartment at the Fieldale Towel Mill, ''^as presented the Fieldcrest diamond- and-gold 50-year service pin, a gift and a letter of commendation from President William C. Battle. The presentations were made by Rob- ®rt A. Harris, senior vice president, who *^®ad a telegram from Mr. Battle ex pressing his regret that he had to be °ut of town and could not attend the luncheon. Tremendous Improvements Made Mr. Harris in a brief talk expressed the “Management’s thanks’’ to Mr. Wood lor his long service. Mr. Wood has worked in the Cutting and Sewing Department during his en tire 50 years and has been a cutter for virtually the entire time. His wife, Ber tie P. Wood, works in the saime de partment. Mr. and Mrs. Wood have one child, a daughter. Sherry, who was a Field crest Scholarship recipient and who graduated from the University of West ’Virginia with an outstanding record. Rose Show Will Be Held At Fieldcrest Store The Fieldcrest Store at Eden will be the scene of the 13th annual rose show sponsored by the Eden Rose Society Saturday, September 30, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.jn. The theme of the show will be “Roses in a Garden of Eden.” The Eden Rose Society is an affiliate of the American Rose Society and this will be an accredited show. H. E. Willianrs, of the Engineering Department, and Mrs. William F. Sif- ford are show committee co-chairmen. C. C. Campbell, retired Fieldcrest pay master, is treasurer of the Eden Rose Society and chairman of the finance committee for the show. Among the large number of per sons making preparations for the show are Mr. and Mrs. John R. Mc- Gavisk, both of whom are retired from the Blanket Greige Mill. They are ser ving on the preparations and placement committee and the registration com mittee, respectively. Awards to be given at the rose show include the Sweepstakes Award given by Fieldcrest Mills, Inc., to the win ner of the most points in Division I. This is a perpetual award to be held by the winner for one year.
