w WILLIE O. YOUNG ERNEST K. GROGAN ANNIE T. UNDERWOOD H. ELWOOD WILLIAMS Five Employees Complete 40-Yr. Records Five Fieldcrest employees have re cently completed 40-year records of con tinuous service with the Company. They are Willie O. Young, Karastan Rug Mill; Ernest K. Grogan, Karastan Rug Mill; Annie T. Underwood, Draper Sheeting Mill; H. Elwood Williams, Engin eering Department; and James W. Wade, Blanket Greige Mill. All five have been presented the 40- year diamond-and-gold Fieldcrest serv ice pin, a $40 gift certificate at the Fieldcrest Store and a letter of commen dation fromj President William C. Battle. Mr. Young, a weaver at the Karastan Rug Mill, completed 40 years of contin uous service on September 21. He began his continuous service on September 21, 1932, at the Karastan Rug Mill, but had worked there as early as 1926. He has worked the entire 40 years as a weaver, which is his present classi fication. Mr. Grogan, a frame inspector and re pairer in the Weave Room at Karastan Rug Mill, completed 40 years of service on September 14. He began his continuous service at the Karastan Rug Mill as a threader in 1932, but had worked there as early at 1925. He was a tube repairer, floor worker, creeler and frame inspector before be coming a frame inspector and repairer, his present classification, in 1956. Mrs. Underwood, a spinner at the Draper Sheeting Mill, completed 40 years of continuous service on Septem ber 23. She began employment at the Draper Sheeting Mill September 23, 1932, as a spinner and has continued in that classi fication to the present time. Mr. Williams, of the Engineering De partment, completed 40 years of contin uous service on September 20. He was employed at the Karastan Rug Mill in the Filter Plant in 1932. He continues in that classification at the present time. Mr. Wade, a loom fixer at the Blanket Greige Mill, completed a 40-year rec ord of service with the Company on September 15. He began employment in 1932 as a quill collector. He became a breakdown man in March of 1942 and a loom fixer in August of 1942. He continues in that classification at the present time. Members of the workshop committee for the upcoming educational workshop ar®' left to right, Corinda Thompson, Sharon Robertson, Hilda Martin, Lou Stophel and Ruby Ann Bousman. Secretaries Plan 1st Educational Workshop The Eden Chapter of The National Secretaries Association (International) will sponsor its first educational work shop on Saturday, October 7, at the Whitcomb Student Center, Rockingham Community College. The workshop committee includes Corinda Thompson, publicity chair man; Sharon Robertson, program chair man; Hilda Martin, registration chair man; Lou Stophel, workshop chairman; and Ruby Ann Bousman, president All are from the General Offices, Eden. Keynote speaker will be Carl D. Willis, P E., director of public works for the City of High Point, who will discuss the human elements of the secretary in relationship to management, cO' workers, customers. The speaker is expected to stress eh' thusiasm, motivation, participation, teamwork and the overall satisfaction of trying to be the best of what on® is and what one is trained to be. Other speakers will be John P. MC' Michael, vice president and general manager of Macfield Texturing, Inc-, in Reidsville; and Joan Citty, teacher and counselor at Rockingham Com' nity College.
