Manley, of the Blanket Warehouse, has com pleted an outstanding record of 45 years of continuous service with the company. Also, within the past two weeks, two employees of the Karastan Rug Mill have attained 40-year records of continuous service. They are: Harry L. Martin and Harold S. Young. Each long-service employee has received the appropriate Fieldcrest service emblem, a gift certificate for company merchandise equal in dollar value to the years of service, and a letter of commendation from president William C. Battle. Mr. Manley began continuous service on September 10,1928, as a truck operator in the Storage and Shipping Department at the Blanket Warehouse. He then worked as a stock man in the Blanket Stock Department before going to the old Bleachery as a yardage hand in the Sewing Department. He later worked as a supply helper at the Blanket Warehouse, head supply clerk at the Blanket Warehouse, head supply clerk at the Blanket Finishing Mill, assistant foreman and mill scheduler at HARRY L. MARTIN Men's Bowlin Season Begins HAROLD S. YOUNG the Blanket Finishing Mill, and order clerk at the Blanket Warehouse before becoming a mail and office clerk, his present classification. Mr. Martin began continuous service at the Karastan Rug Mill on September 4, 1933, as a rug server in the Burling Depart ment. He then worked in the Weaving Department as a floor worker, in the Warehouse and Shipping Department as a packer and shipper, and in the Plant Service Department as a stock room hand and head supply clerk. He went to the Finishing Department in 1945 as an assistant inspector, becoming an inspector in 1954. Mr. Young began employment on September 7, 1933, as a floor man in the Burling Depart ment. He then worked in various classifications in that depart ment, including chief grader, second hand and assistant foreman before becoming a shift foreman, his present classifi cation, in 1970. Robin Powell is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nolan B. Powell. She is a graduate of Morehead High School, has attended Rockingham Community College for two years and is now a junior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is majoring in psychology. Her father is a loom fixer at the Draper Sheeting Mill. Danny Ray Setliff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond V a graduate of J. D. Bassettli School and attended Dant Community College fort years. He is now a senior Averett College, majoring psychology. His . father I weaver at the Fieldale Tfi Mill. The Fieldcrest Foundat^ recently awarded 51 new gr^^ in-aid to make a total of 8b, and daughters of employees|, are furthering their educ^ beyond high school with ^ assistance of a Foundai^ grant.
