WAYNE GRIFFIN In organization changes at the Whiteviile Plant, James R. McGavisk was promoted to manager of mechanical development and plant services and Norman C. Hopkins was promoted to general foreman in production. Also, J. Wayne Griffin was promoted to shift foreman in plant services and Tony J. Efird was promoted to shift foreman in production. Mr. McGavisk first was employed by Fieldcrest at the Blanket Greige Mill in 1958. He worked as a machine draftsman at the Karastan Rug Mill during the summers and at Christmas vacations while attending college. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a BS degree in mechanical engineering in 1962. He joined the Karastan Rug Mill as a development engineer and served in that capacity until April, 1972, when he was appointed a staff assistant assigned in the Karastan Weave Room. He was transferred to the Whiteviile Plant as a staff assistant in July, 1973. Mr. Hopkins joined Fieldcrest in 1966 as a supervisory trainee. He received his BS degree in business administration from East Carolina University and later graduated from the Institute of Textile Technology at Charlottesville, Va. He worked as assistant foreman in the Wool Carding Department at the Blanket Greige Mill and in the Twisting and Reeling Department at the Karastan Spinning Mill before being transferred to the Laurelcrest Yarn Mill in 1970 He worked as shift foreman and foreman at Laurel Hill and then was transferred to the Winchester Spinning Mill.
