Receives Master Of Music De^
Janet Rebecca Funderburk,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. 0.
Funderburk of Eden, recently
received a master of music
degree from the University of
North Carolina at Greensboro.
She is now in Romania with 44
other members of the Chorale of
the University of North Carolina
at Greensboro. The group is
spending three weeks behind the
Iron Curtain giving informal
concerts in youth centers
throughout Romania.
Miss Funderburk’s father is
employed in the Plant Service
Department at the Blanket
Greige Mill.

Mrs. Wilson cuts cake during
dinner party held in her honor
April 27.
Mrs. Annie Wilson, LPN,
retired on May 1, following 17
and a half years of service to the
employees of Columbus Towel
Mill. Mrs. Wilson was employed
by the Medical Department,
serving in the capacity of the
evening nurse.
A dinner party in her honor
was held on April 27, at Callaway
Gardens, a resort at Pine Moun
tain, Georgia. Attending the
party were members of
Columbus’ Medical and
Industrial Relations
Departments and their spouses.
Twenty-six people attended the
affair.
Mrs. Wilson was presented a
GE Coffeemaker, a photo
memory album, and an orchid
corsage by her co-workers.
Out of town guests for the
event included Mrs. Wilson’s
daughter and son-in-law, Mr. &
Mrs. Claude Locklin, a grand
daughter, Miss Sue Ann Locklin,
her son, Mr. Thomas Wilson, all
of Milton, Florida; and Mr. &
Mrs. Bobby G. Hinson of
Atlanta, Georgia.
On April 30, a tea was held in
the Medical Department in her
honor with approximately 75
guests attending. Among the
gifts received at the tea was a
flower container fashioned from
a shuttle from one of the looms.
Many other gifts of appreciation
were presented.
Mrs. Wilson will make her
retirement home at 103 Ticon-
deroga Street, Milton, Florida.

The Mill Whistle will publish pictures of employees’ sons and daughters, in all of the com
pany’s divisions, who will graduate from a college or university early in June.
The parents should fill in the coupon below and send it with a photograph of the graduate to
The Mill Whistle, Fieldcrest Mills, Eden, N. C., or they may hand the material to one of the
plant reporters for The Mill Whistle.
It is not necessary that the graduate be wearing a cap and gown. If the parents do not have a
photograph, the graduate can usually obtain one from the studio that made his or her picture for
the college annual. ^
If there are any employees daughters to graduate from hospital nursing schools we of course
