Gina Tate Is Top Winner
Five-year old Gina Tate was
the top winner in the zoo art
exhibits section in the recent
Eden Junior Woman’s Club
Awareness Week. She won the
best-in-show award and also
first place from Douglass School
kindergarten for her picture
entitled “Friendly Tiger.”
Gina is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. J. Wayne Tate of Eden.
Her father is a supervisor at the
Fieldcrest Store and her mother,
Betty, is Eden employment
manager. A grandfather, James
R. Vernon is employed in the
Weaving Department at the
Blanket Greige Mill. Gina’s
great-grandmother, Mrs. Annie
R. Jones, is a retired employee
of the Draper Sheeting Mill.
Reporter Named At Laurelcrest

Yarn Mill, has been appointed
The Mill Whistle reporter for
that plant. Employees are
requested to hand in their news,
pictures and “Buy . . . Sell . . .
Swap” items to Mrs. Hinson at
the plant manager’s office.
The new reporter is married to
R. E. Hinson, a department
manager at Waverly Mills, ^
Laurinburg, and they have four S
children, ages, 12, 10, 8 and 3.
Mrs. Hinson enjoys house-
keeping, particularly cooking, ^ "
sewing and growing flowers. ,‘'j

Organizational Changes A/Iq1
In new appointments in the
bedspread manufacturing
operation, John L. West has been;
named plant manager of the
Bedspread Finishing Mill and
David T. Arnold has joined
Fieldcrest Mills, Inc., replacing
Mr. West as plant manager of
the Bedspread Greige Mill.
Mr. West, who graduated in
textile engineering at Georgia
Tech, has been with Fieldcrest
since 1960 when he was
employed as a textile engineer.
He was transferred to the
Fieldale Towel Mill in 1963 and
served as superintendent of
carding and spinning and then
was general superintendent of
the greige mill. He was named
plant manager of the Bedspread
Greige Mill in 1966 and continued
in that capacity until his latest
appointment.

Mr. Arnold, a graduate in
textile manufacturing at
Clemson University, was a
superintendent at Dan River
Mills, Danville, Va., and at
Burlington Industries, Halifax,
J. Ni. Moore Is Honored
J. Melvin Moore, division vice
president and general manager
of rug spinning mills, was
honored by employees at the
Karastan Spinning and
Karastan Worsted Mills at
Greenville on the occasion of his,
40th anniversary of continuous
service with the company.
Mr. Moore was presented an
attache case by Carolyn Glast,
secretary, representing the
office and supervisory personnel
at the two Greenville plants. A
card signed by these employees
was enclosed.
Stores’ Closing
Schedule Given

the Draper section of Eden will
be closed during the mills’
vacation period. The store will
close at 6 p.m., Friday, June 28

Sales Showroom in the AMP
Building, Eden, will also be
closed during the week of
vacation. The showroom will
close at 5 p.m. Friday, June 28
and reopen at 1 p.m. Monday’

T^he Fieldcrest Stores at Eden
and Columbus, Ga., will be open
on regular schedule during the
vacation week, except that thev
will be closed Thursday, July 4
for the Independence Day
holiday.
In line with the current
higher interest rates being
paid by financial
institutions, the Fieldcrest
Mills Credit Union will pay
an extra dividend of 1
percent per annum for the
six months ending June 30.
The total dividend rate
will be 7 percent per annum
and includes the 1 percent
per annum extra dividend
and the regular 6 percent
per annum which the Credit
Union has paid for the past
several years.
The dividend will be
figured on the members’
average monthly balances
and credited to their share
accounts as of June 30, 1974.
Payment of the dividend
was authorized by the
Credit Union’s board of
directors Friday, June 14.
