12 Complete First Aid Course At Scottsboro
Twelve employees at the
Scottsboro Rug Mill recently
completed the American Red
Cross eight-hour Multi-Media
first aid training course are now
certified first aid attendants-
Gloria Hilton, R.N., of the
central Medical Department
staff conducted the course which
was held in two four-hour
sessions on October 16 and 17.
J. P. Foster, general manager
of the Scottsboro Rug Mill,
commended the employees who
completed the course and said,
“Hopefully these employees will
never have to use these skills
because accident prevention is
our goal, but should the situation
arise, I believe they will be able
to act immediately without any
difficulties.”
Those who completed the first
aid course are: Agatha D.
Dobbs, Table Top Tufting
Department; Irene C. Ferguson,
Inspecting; Jimmy Gay Fossett,
Warehouse and Shipping;
Thomas Goins, Coating; Annie
L. Green, Warehouse and Ship
ping; Kenneth D. Higginbotham,
Customer Service; and Char
lotte R. Hudson, Design.
Also, Homer E. Ledbetter,
Laundry; Barbara A. Pritchett,
Inspecting; Bobbie Stewart,
Table Top Tufting; Josie
Wallingsford, Packaging; and
Michael D. Lewis, Warehouse
and Shipping.

Three Named To New Positions
In Karastan Marketing Division
Edward J. McRae has been
flamed western sales manager
in the Karastan Marketing
Division, succeeding John S.
Sggleston who was recently
appointed vice president for
lales at Karastan.
Mr. McRae will have his head
quarters at Karastan’s San
Francisco sales offices and will
'eport to Mr. Eggleston
It was also announced that
lames J. Beirne has been named
0 replace Mr. McRae as
salesman for New York City ac
counts. Mr. Beirne had been
southern Florida territory
manager for Karastan.
Robert B. Dyer, formerly
Florida sales representative for
-.aurelcrest Carpets, will move
0 the Karastan division and
ake over Mr. Beirne’s responsi-
lilities in Florida.
Mr. McRae started with
Karastan in 1965 after attending
Pace College. Following various
sales service positions he was
named a territory manager in
the midwest in 1970.
In 1971 he was made a
commercial carpet specialist
servicing key accounts in the
New York area. He took over the
important New York City sales
responsibilities in January of
1972.
Mr. Beirne began his career in
the carpet industry with
Karastan in 1961, working out of
the New York sales head
quarters. He subsequently held
sales posts with Alexander
Smith and Aldon Industries.
He rejoined Karastan in 1971
as commercial carpet specialist,
servicing accounts from the
company’s Chicago sales office.
In January of this year he was
named to the Florida sales post.
Mr. Dyer joined the Karastan
organization in 1956 in the
manufacturing division. He
moved to the marketing division
in 1964 and was named to a sales
service post in 1967.
Following the acquisition of
the Laurelcrest division by
Fieldcrest, Mr. Dyer joined the
Laurelcrest sales staff in 1968
and was named territory
manager for the northwest
region. In January, 1973 he was
assigned the southern Florida
territory for Laurelcrest.

Fieldale Golf Champions
Three Fieldale employees
were winners in the Lynwood
Country Club golf tournament
held September 28 and 29.
Wendell Koger, a loom fixer,
won the fifth flight; Norman
Dodson, section foreman in the
Slashing Department, won the
JONDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 1974
fourth flight; and John Perry, a
filter operator, won second place
in the fourth flight.
Mr. Koger was also co-winner
of the best ball contest in the
fifth flight. Mr. Dodson, while
playing in the tournament, broke
80 for the first time.
