The original of Double Bowkrtot, the cotton coverlet above, was woven in Jackson County, Ohio, in 18^7, but this "Double Muskadtne" pattern occurred in 16th-century German damask tablecloths. Now it seems to have the geometry of a contemporary graphic. The same pattern in coordinated PATCHWORK-CON- S>CfOUS DAYf young Aimee's carefully assembled patterning of bits and pieces suggests a design eye sophisticated beyond her yeors or era. Aimees Patchwork" is printed on percale sheets edged in eye et enibroidery (far right) and also on a comforter, used here as a e spread (above right), lined in blue sheeting, the patchwork pattern 5^oy-poster.
