Laurelcrest Employees Pledge $13,184 To Campai^ The Laurelcrest Yarn Mill, Laurelcrest Service Center and Laurelcrest Carpet Mill have completed their United Way drive and report 97.3 percent employee participation with pledges totaling $13,184.16 for the United Way. Out of 708 employees, 691 pledged with 394 giving their “Fair Share.” A drawing among those who pledged a “Fair Share” was held on October 29, with Charles Wentz, co-chairman of the United Way Campaign for Scotland County, doing the honors. Listed In New ' Who’s Who ’ Ernest Wilkersi Fred Hudgins, left, receives trophy from Stephen J. Pisut, Jr., in whose father’s honor the trophy was given. Hudgins Receives Trophy Fred Hudgins, formerly of Eden but now a resident of Chicago, 111, recently received the Stephen J. Pisut Memorial trophy as the most valuable player in the Illinois Midwest Amateur Softball League this season. Mr. Hudgins, who is employed as a salesman for the Karastan Marketing Division, had a .644 batting average and hit 35 home runs during the 18-team loop’s season. He is married to the former Jan Roland of Eden and they have a daughter. Heather. Phyllis Anne Ladd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Ladd of Greensboro, has been listed in the new edition of “Who’s Who — High Schools.” A senior at Kernersville Wesleyan Academy, she is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Otis Robertson. Her grandfather is employed in the Weave Room at the Draper Sheeting Mill. Her grandmother, Fairie, is employed as a setter at the Karastan Rug Mill. Phyllis is a member of the volleyball team and also of the academy’s traveling chorale. She serves as the senior representative on the student council and as business manager of the school annual and paper. Elwood Walker has been named a partner in Price Waterhouse and Co., an interna tional accounting and auditing firm. He is the son of Adolphus Walker who is employed in the Spinning Department at the Draper Sheeting Mill, and Hattie Walker who is employed in the Weave Room at the Draper Sheeting Mill. Mr. Walker is a 1954 graduate of Morehead High School and a 1958 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also holds a degree from Duke University.
