Scenes at Annual 25~Year Club Luncheon A review of economic conditions, particularly in the sheet business, featured the program at the annual luncheon for 25-Year Club members in the Sheet Operation, the General Offices and the North Carolina Specials Department. The program was held Saturday morning, October 26, in the cafeteria at the Draper Elementary School. W. G. Runnings, division vice president of bed fashions manu facturing, was the principal speaker. He discussed business conditions, particularly as they affect the Sheet Operation, and explained the importance of controlling inventories. “Our company is in a very jstrong position within our industry and markets. The [products made by our company have the right fashion and are ipriced competitively. When business is good, we have, and (Will continue to get our share,” Mr. Runnings said. Mr. Runnings expressed appreciation to the long-service employees for their dedication and contributions to the com pany. “Without the backbone you provide,” he said, we would cease to be an efficient, vibrant company.” K. M. Vaughn, plant manager of the Sheet Finishing Mill, presided and recognized the new members. W. F. Crumley, recently promoted to division vice president of sheet manu facturing, spoke briefly, saying he was proud to be a part of the Sheet Operation and that he “looked forward to getting to know each of you.” J. Frank Wilson, retired production manager who is 91 years old, was recognized and made brief remarks recalling old days at Draper when he first worked there in 1907. Fifty-year employees present for the luncheon were A. D. Weaver, Allie Houchins, Earl Bondurant, J. W. (Bill) Page and S. L. Golden. Attendance prizes, consisting of blankets, sheets and bedspreads, were awarded to - the following; A. D. Weaver, Charles Stophel, Anne Gilley, Annie Glass, Flora Beauford, Adolphus Walker, Prudence DeHart, Georgia Thomas, Dora Willis and J. W. (Bill) Page. Entertainment was by The Fieldcresters Quartet, whose gospel-singing program was much enjoyed. The invocation preceding the luncheon was given by Garland E. Church, a 25-Year Club member from the Draper Sheeting Mill. New members becoming eligible for the 25-Year Club, in the Sheeting Operation, were: Evelyn M. Amburn, Pauline S. Barham, Vera S. Dalton, Margaret 0. Estes, Frances S. Hall, Nina G. Harding, Gladys W. Murphy, Alene W. Patterson, George Shropshire, Jr., Grace S. Thompson and Riley Wm. Wilson. In the North Carolina Specials Department Mary D. Clark became eligible for 25-Year Club. Mildred E. Westmoreland became eligible at the General Offices. .MONDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 1974
