Appointments Announced
In Rug Marketing Division

Gets Promotion
John A. Fitzpatrick has been
named contract specialist for
Karastan’s Northeastern
sales area, it was announced by
John S. Eggleston, Vice-presi
dent for Sales.
Mr. Fitzpatrick, who had been
covering contract dealers for
Karastan in the New York City
metropolitan area since Janu
ary, 1973, will be responsible for
developing and expanding
commercial carpet business for
Karastan throughout the
Northeast working closely with
dealers and specifiers.
Artis Children
J. L. Connolly, Jr., has been
named manager, Customer
Service and Warehousing for the
Rug and Carpet Division. He will
report to J. Paul Kitchens,
division vice president- rug and
carpet manufacturing.
Mr. Connolly joined Fieldcrest
in 1960 as a management trainee
at the Karastan Rug Mill. He
worked as an assistant foreman
in the Weaving Department and
as supervisor of quality control
at the Karastan Rug Mill before
becoming a data project analyst
in the Rug and Carpet
Information Services
Department in 1%5. He became
manager of the Rug and Carpet
Information Services
Department in 1968 and
remained in that position until
his recent promotion.

Rhonda Odarious Artis, four
years old, and Dori Tameika
Artis, 11 months old, are the
daughters of Mr. and Mrs.
Ronnie Artis of Eden. Their
mother, Vonzelle, is employed
as a secretary in the Purchasing
Department at the General
Offices. Grandparents are Mr.
and Mrs. Manx Artis and Mr.
and Mrs. Simon Norman. Mr.
Manx Artis is employed at the
Draper Sheeting Mill in the
Carding Department. Mr.
Norman is employed in the Plant
Manager’s Office at the Blanket
Finishing Mill.

Mr. Fitzpatrick joined
Karastan in 1969. A lieutenant in
the U.S. Naval Reserve, he holds
a B.S. degree in marketing from
the University of Dayton and a
Master’s degree in business
administration from St. John’s
University.
Mr. Eggleston also disclosed
that Thomas P. Costello will
succeed Mr. Fitzpatrick as
contract sales specialist for New
York City. A graduate of Provi
dence College, Mr. Costello
joined Karastan in 1973.

They introduced the three
exciting Fieldcrest Collections:
“Freestyle Directions” by
Missoni, a subtler, more sophis
ticated collection of colors,
textures and patterns; the
“Barbary Group” of four
colorful towels inspired by the
Berber tribes of North Africa;
and “Complements” for the
Home,” which is being intro
duced jointly with Croscill, a
manufacturer of bedroom
accessories. The “Complements
for the Home” collection will be
a fully coordinated and fully
accessorized line of home
fashions and represents the first
such joint effort in which
Fieldcrest has participated.
The new St. Marys offering is
the “American Spirit”
collection, a truly American
pattern designed in sheets,
towels, and blankets.
