Some Representative Employees Of The Alexander Sheeting Mill
VIRGINIA LOWDERMILK is an inspector in the Inspecting Department
at the Alexander Sheeting Mill in Forest City, She joined Fieldcrest in 1941
and resides in Brookmont Heights, Forest City.
LEONARD MURRAY is a mechanic No. 1 in the Plant Ser
ment at the Alexander Sheeting Mill. He began employment w
in 1952 and resides on Route 4, Forest City.
Frank M. Campbell is superin
tendent of carding and spinning
at the Draper Sheeting Mill. He
is a graduate of Western Caro
lina University with a B.S.
degree in industrial man
agement and worked on various
jobs at Fieldcrest during the
summers between college years.
He joined Fieldcrest as a
management trainee at the
Bedspread Mill in June, 1965.
Entering military service in
February, 1966, he served for
three years and was in Vietnam
1967-68.
Upon completing his military
service he returned to Western
Carolina University and
graduated. He rejoined
Fieldcrest in July, 1969, as a
management trainee at the
Draper Sheeting Mill.
He was promoted to
department foreman in the
Carding Department in June,
1970, and served in that capacity
until his appointment as
superintendent of carding and
spinning. In the latter position he
succeeded R. E. (Ed) New, who
retired under the Fieldcrest

retirement program after
years of continuous service.
During his off-hours from the
mill, Mr. Campbell’s main
interest is raising Black Angus
cattle. Also, he is just
completing the restoration of the
old home in which he lives in the
Ridgeway, Va., area near Eden.
The house was built in 1808 while
Thomas Jefferson was President
and is believed to be the oldest
brick home in Henry County, Va
Mr. Campbell is a native of
Eden and was halfback and
captain of the 1959 state
championship football team at
Morehead High School in 1959.
He also played three years as a
wingback at Western Carolina.
He is married to the former
Joye Reeves, a native of Char
lotte. They have two children, a
son, Frank, Jr., three years oid
and a daughter, Kelly
months old.
