Herrin is The Mill Whistle, reporter for the Mt. Holly Spinning Mill. A Fieldcrest employee since 1967, her duties include personnel technician, receptionist and secretary to the plant manager. VERNIE U. JENKINS 40 Years Employees of the Mt. Holly Spinning Mill are invited to hand in to Mrs. Herrin their r^ews, pic tures, and “Buy. . .Sell. . .Swap” items for publication in The Mill Whistle. Two Fieldcrest employees have recently completed outstanding records of 40 years of continuous service with the company. They are Florence F. Crews, a payroll clerk at the Bedspread Mill, and Vernie U. Jenkins, a burler at the Karastan Rug Mill. Each long-service employee has received the Fieldcrest diamond-and-gold 40-year ser vice emblem, a gift certificate for company merchandise equal in dollar amounts to the years of service, and a letter of commendation from President William C. Battle. Mrs. Crews, whose continuous service dates from July 22,1935, began employment at the Karastan Rug Mill as a burler. She worked at Karastan as a payroll clerk before becoming a checker for the old Wage A native of Elberton, Ga., she is the daughter of Mrs. Alma Collins and the late William H. Collins. She is a graduate of Elberton-Elbert County High School and attended Elbert County Commercial Night School. Her hobbies include camping, sewing and being a housewife and mother. She is married to Bureau. In 1948, she became a timekeeper-clerk in Bedspread Mill Accounting, and later worked as a production control clerk at the Bedspread Mill before becoming a payroll clerk there in 1954. Mrs. Jenkins, whose continuous service also dates from July 22,1935, has worked as a burler at the Karastan Rug Mill for her entire 40 years of service.
