Employee at NCF is a 'Super Gardener' Mention gardening and everyone who gardens has a tale to tell about it--about cucumbers the size of watermelons and corn up to here, and so on and so on. It’s not often, however, that these tales can be proven. But when Raymond Daniel talks about his super garden, he can prove every word. Mr. Daniel is an employee in the Grey room at North Carolina Finishing. He also gardens-and how he gardens! He has made quite a name for himself with corn 12 feet tall, tomatoes larger than his hands and cucumber vines as tall as he IS. Not only is Mr. Daniel a gardener, he’s a super gardener. Four gardens totalmg 2 acres will produce a lot of vegetables. He claims that he eats well, keeps a big freezer well-stocked and has lots of relatives and neighbors who think the world of him about this time every year. Photographs at right show some of the bounty from Mr. Daniels’ super garden. P. Michael (Mike) Hammock is superintendent of weaving and slashing at the Alexander Sheeting Mill, Forest City.
