Al Geiberger Appearance Draws Crowd

Mr. Geiberger came to Eden
from Pinehurst where he
participated in the World Open.
He was accompanied by his wife
Lynn who was with him when he
visited the Fieldcrest Store.
After his appearance here,
Mr. Geiberger went on to Laurel
Valley, Pa., to play on the U.S.
team in the Ryder Cup competi
tion. Arnold Palmer is the
captain of the U.S. team,
composed of the nation’s top
golfers, which was to play the
team from Great Britain on
Palmer’s own course September
18, 19, and 20.
Mr. Geiberger, a Californian
who has played in the GGO for 17
years, is one of the nation’s top
golfers and a favorite of many
fans. He won the PGA
championship in 1966 and in 1974
was winner of the Sahara
Invitational at Las Vegas.
During the current year, which
is his best year ever, he won the
Tournament of Champions in
April and the Tournament
Players championship in
August.
As one of the top money-
winners in the game, Mr.
Geiberger has career earnings
of $788,812. He won $91,628 in
prize money in 1974 and so far in
1975 has earned over $170,000,
making it his best year.
