Seven Are Honored For Long Service Records VIRGIL A. COCHRAN J^'ieldcrest has recently recognized seven employees for 40-year records of continuous service with the company. They are Virgil A. Cochran, loom fixer, Blanket Mill; William S. Hundley, machine operator. Blanket Warehouse; Hilda Joyce, inspector. Sheet Finishing Mill; William S. Martin, loom fixer. Bedspread Mill; Mary W. Shelton, inspec tor, Draper Sheeting Mill; W. Rawley Turner, winder server. Blanket Mill; and Elaine Walker, sewer. Sheet Finishing Mill. Each of these employees has received the Fieldcrest diamond-and-gold 40-year service pin, a $40 gift certificate for company merchandise, and a letter of commendation from President William C. Battle. Mr. Cochran, who has worked in the Weaving Department at the Blanket Mill all of his 40 years, began continuous service on October 10, 1935, as a quill collector. He has worked in various jobs including weaver, overhauler and breakdown- change fixer. He has been a loom fixer most of the time since 1953. Mr. Hundley began continuous service on October 7, 1935, as a warper at the old Synthetic Fabrics Mill. He worked at that mill in various capacities until NOTICE Something new has been added to the Employee Data Worksheet which every Fieldcrest employee receives each year. This year, an extra line will be included which will ask each employee to enter his or her husband or wife’s birthdate. This information is needed in connection with survivor benefits under the Pension Plan and is required by the Employee Retirement Income Act (ERISA) enacted by Con gress in September, 1974. Additional information concerning ERISA and its effect on Fieldcrest em ployees will be furnished when details have been determined. The Employee Data Worksheets are circulated to all employees yearly in order to update information on their tax status, mailing address, emergency noti fication, etc. WILLIAM S. HUNDLEY WILLIAM S. MARTIN MARY W. SHELTON 1957 when he went to the Blanket Warehouse as an order filler. During 1957 and 1958 he also worked at the Blanket Mill and at the old Automatic Blanket Mill at Eden before going to the Blanket Warehouse as a helper. At the Blanket Warehouse, he worked as a cutting machine operator, machine operator No. 2 and offset press operator before becoming a machine operator No. 1 in 1966. Miss Joyce, who has worked at the old Bleachery and the Sheet Finishing Mill for all of her 40 years with the company, began continuous service on October 14,1935, as a folder. She became an inspector-folder in 1936, and has remained in that classification since that time. Mr. Martin has continuous service since October 1, 1935, as announced. Nearly all of his 40 years have been in the Weave Room at the Bedspread Mill. He has been a loom fixer since 1952. Mrs. Shelton began continuous service on October 14, 1935, as a setter at the Karastan Rug Mill. In 1938, she went to the Draper Sheeting Mill as an inspector. Between 1939 and 1940, she worked as a setter again at the Karastan Rug Mill, before returning to the Draper Sheeting Mill as an inspector.
