Blanket Long-Service Group Honored (Continued from Page One) to provide needed, services for all of us. Next they are used to give a reasonable return on investment to those who have invested their savings in a com pany. ‘.‘After paying taxes and stock holders, the balance of a com pany’s earnings are reinvested in the business — for carrying inventories, providing cash to carry accounts receivable, and to purchase equipment and-or buildings. From these reinvested earnings come more jobs for more people. I ask each of you to talk about profits with pride. It is a measure of good performance.” R. W. Rutland, manager of technical services in blanket manufacturing, was the master of ceremonies. N. F. Young, division vice president-blanket manufacturing, introduced Mr. Runnings. H. G. Rosenthal, plant manager of the Blanket Finishing Mill, presented the new members and recognized the 50-year members attending. New members becoming eligible for the club this year were: Blanket Greige Mill, Ruby G. Barrow, McKinley Blackstock, James C. Estes, George E. Hopkins, Paul G. Land, Ruby U. McGuire, Luther G. Meadows, James- R. Newman, Jessie D. Overby, Goldie C. Pruitt, Irene M. Squires; Blanket Finishing Mill, Gladys G. Chumley, Earl Gillespie, Fayline E. Lawless, Bernice S. Lillard, R. Carson Oakley, Calvin E. Smith, Margarette F. Trent, John D. Washburn, Alfred W. Yarbrough; Blanket Warehouse, Edna E. Alderman, Oscar F, Overby, Jr.; Samuel E. Chilton. The 50-year members in the Blanket Operation are: Blanket Greige, Mack Overby, Mary Manuel, Jesse W. Griggs; Blanket Finishing, J. Thomas Patterson, Betty H. Ratliff, Belle H. Royster, G. Josie Taylor, Glenn H. Simpson. Entertainment at the meeting was by the ‘‘No Name Band” a bluegrass music group composed of Melvin Pruitt, Blanket Greige; ‘‘J. P.” Pul liam, Karastan; David Pulliam, Blanket Greige; George Hughes, and Elmer Hagood, Martins ville, Va.; and Raymond Adams, Ferrum, Va. In the drawing for attendance prizes, conducted by W. F. Robertson, plant manager of the Blanket Greige Mills, winners were: Paul G. Land, sheet set; William D. Crowson, blanket; Nettie Dillon, Blanket; Fred C. Christley, towel set; Annie L. Weadon, blanket; Carson Oak ley, blanket; John D. Washburn, blanket; James S. Wilkerson, bedspread; and James B. Miriter, automatic blanket. Clarence M.
