Adkins, a Schweiter winder tender at the Blanket Greige Mill, has been honored by Fieldcrest for completing 40 years of continuous service with the company. Mrs. Adkins has received the Fieldcrest 40-year service emblem, a $40 gift certificate for company merchandise, and a letter of commendation from William C. Battle, president of Fieldcrest Mills, Inc. Beginning work on May 11, 1936 as a winder at the Draper Sheeting Mill, she went to the Blanket Griege Mill in 1954 as a cone winder hand. She later worked there as a spooler tender and roto coner winder tender before going to the Bedspread Mill for a brief period during 1959 as a winder. She returned to the Blanket Mill in 1%0 as a roto coner winder tender and became a Schweiter winder tender later that same year.
