Happenings... MR. AND MRS. C. W. (BILL) TULLOCH When Ctolumbus W. (Bill) Tulloch retired from the Bedspread Mill on October 1, he and his wife Irene, had a total of 84 years of continuous service with Fieldcrest. Mr. Tulloch had 41 years at retirement while Irene Tulloch when she retired in May of this year had 43 years of service at the Bedspread Mill. Both say they are enjoying retirement. “We’ve worked a long time and now it’s time to relax,” said Mrs. Tulloch. Both plan to spend more time with their gardening, which they both enjoy. “Fieldcrest has been really good to us and we’ve worked hard in return,” Mr. "lYilloch said. “Work ing is a lot better now than it used to be because so many changes have been made. Eagle, stock room super visor at North Carolina Finishing Company, won the first-place award for the September tournament of the Salisbury Bassmaster’s Club. He also won the Lonker Award for that month. Fishing in Tuckertown Lake on the Yadkin River, he used a weed-wader spinner bait lure and caught a total of nine pounds and two ounces of bass. Mr. Tulloch, who began his service at the old Woolen Mill in 1935, went to the Bedspread Mill in 1937 and remained at that plant until his retirement. He had been a fixer in the Spinning Department for 23 years. Mrs. Tulloch worked all of her 43 years at the Bedspread Mill, beginning as a spinner. She was a twister tender in the Twisting Department at retirement. Both are strong in their praise of the Bedspread Mill management. “We had the best management and supervisors anybody could have,” said Mrs. Tulloch. Drawings for prizes among the Fair Share contributors were scheduled for Thursday, October 28, but were held too late for the winners’ names to be included in this issue of The Mill Whistle. In reporting further on the campaign in the Bedspread Division, Mr. Stutts said the results were boosted by the outstanding response in the fol lowing departments in which 100 percent of the employees gave a Fair Share or more: Office, Picking, Winding, Spooling, Twisting, Warping, Fringing, Package-Beam Dye, Quilling, Slashing, Draw-Tie, and Inspecting. The Eden United Fund will present a Certificate of Merit to each of the above departments, as well as all other mill and staff departments in which 100 percent of the employees contribute a Fair Share.
