Every Wednesday night for 28 weeks, six teams in the Fieldcrest Ladies’ League welcomed the opportunity to get out of the house, away from the kids and participate in a recreational exercise — bowling. And through all the joy of strikes and spares and sometimes disappointment of “gutter balls,’’ the Crest team became the champs. These six team members bowled their best to win more games during the two 14-week sessions than the other five competing teams. The Liberators plac^ second. The first and second place teams received trophies for their achievements. Special awards included the following: High Game Scratch-Judy Lyons, High Game Handicap-Larnetta Wilson, 1st High Average-Carolyn Scales, 2nd High Average-Phyllis Dunlap, High Set Handicap-Linda Keen, High Set Scratch-Elsie Mock and Most Improved Player-Sally Mize. The Sportsmanship Award, voted on by all the lady bowlers, was awarded to Rachel Richardson.
