Allowed to explore the charming surroundings while the expert chefs prepared their meal, the guests seemed enchanted with the relaxing atmosphere of Glorious Food and thoroughly enjoyed the open-ended spacious kitchen at the other end of the table. The evening was a success from all views. The food and the mood were as festive as the reactions to the Missoni’s Festive Spirit collection for 1977. CHARISMA As a soothing beginning to an undoubtedly hectic week, both salespeople and their buyers were treated to the introduction of the towel and rug with a new hand — Charisma. In this case the hand was drawn by Pat Barnes, a color consultant and tarot card reader. The theme of this party was the psychic and four different mediums were represented (an astrologer, a palmist, a numerologist, and tarot). Together they predicted both the future of the new towel and rug as well as the pasts and futures of those guests brave enough to venture to their individual tables. The party was held on May 15 at the Lotos Club. A Landmark building, the club was once the private home of the Vanderbilts, who at that time employed a live-in staff of 46 people. The reason for this get-together — Charisma — is Fieldcrest’s new bath, triumph for Fall. The most noticeable differences between Charisma and Fieldcrest’s best seller, Royal Velvet, are its thickness and size. The bath size is larger, 30 x 54, and the thickness comes from its all combed cotton face, as well as its all cotton sheared side. The Charisma rug is equally luxurious, with the tufting 50 percent closer than the densest bath rugs ever seen before. Charisma — we set out to weave a better towel, we ended up weaving a spell. HALSTON To kick off his Fieldcrest and Karastan collections for Fall 1977, Ralston opened his four-story townhouse to editors, store principals and a small group of Fieldcrest-Karastan people May 16. The spacious home was recently redecorated, and the individual rooms carri^ both the new Fieldcrest and Karastan merchandise. The guest rooms were furnished each with one of his new Fieldcrest designs. Ralston’s Stripe in the blue colorway could be spotted in one of the second story bedrooms, the tan colorway in the other, and in his own bedroom Ralston chose the beige and white Tailored Look from his last collection. On the fourth floor, in the studio-type apartment, Ralston’s Rose was combined with his new waffle weave carpeting to create a more country-like effect. This party also was catered by Glorious Food.
