1,000 Attend Alexander Picnic The annual picnic for employees of the Alexander Sheeting Mill and their families was held Saturday, October 8, at Cedar Park with some 1,000 persons attending. Despite a downpour of rain, the annual softball game between the Weave and Yarn Manufacturing teams was held on schedule. Both teams persevered heroically and Yarn Manufacturing was able to break the three-year winning streak of the Weave team and win the game. Following the game, the winning team received the coveted horse’s head plaque which will hang in their department until next year’s game. The losing team was pre sented the plaque featuring the other end of the horse. Those attending enjoyed Bingo, a variety of midway games, cotton candy and snow cones. Barbecue, barbecued chicken, french fries, cole slaw, hushpuppies, coffee and tea were served for dinner. W. F. Evans, Jr., plant manager, welcomed retirees and recognized 25-Year Club members individually, giving each a token of appreciation CONCENTRATING MIGHTILY, George Whitmire, Weaving, is determined to win at skillet ball- for their loyalty and service.
