Melvin J.Gourley, head supply
clerk at Fieldale Towel Mill, has
been honored by management on
completion of 40 years of service
with the company. He has been
presented with a 40-year service
emblem, a $40 gift certificate for
company merchandise and a letter
of commendation from William C.
Battle, president of Fieldcrest Mills,
Inc.
Gourley joined the company in
1938 as a towel spreader at
Fieldale. Since then he has held the
jobs of supply clerk helper, supply
clerk and supply server no. 1 in
Plant Services at that mill. He was
promoted to head supply clerk in
1962.
