Safety Shoes Save Nelson From Injury George Nelson probably would be in the hospital today with a very serious foot injury if he had not been wearing his safety shoes on Monday, March 20. A dye machine helper at the Bedspread Mill, Nelson was loading a beam onto a beam truck on that Monday when his beam truck overturned and one of the 568-pound beams landed on the toes of his left foot. Had he not been wearing safety shoes, the toes on that foot very likely would have been severed. The only damage to the shoes was a small scratch. He has been accepted for membership in the Golden Shoe Club, a nation al organization made up of persons who have escaped serious foot injuries by wearing safety shoes. win- m., A narrow escape. George Nelson is a new member of the Golden Shoe Club. One Dollar For A Slogan Attention Bedspread Finishing employees - a crisp new one dollar bill could be yours sometime soon. The Bedspread Finishing Mill kicked off a new safety promotion program on April 1. The new program consists of brief safety interviews by supervisors with individual employees. During each interview, the supervisor will give the employee a safety message and a monthly safety slogan. Names will be drawn and the em ployee whose name is picked will be asked to repeat the safety slogan for the month. If he or she can do so, a prize of one dollar will be awarded.
