Safety Shoes Save
Nelson From Injury
George Nelson probably would be in the hospital today with a very
serious foot injury if he had not been wearing his safety shoes on Monday,
March 20.
A dye machine helper at the Bedspread Mill, Nelson was loading a beam
onto a beam truck on that Monday when his beam truck overturned and
one of the 568-pound beams landed on the toes of his left foot. Had he
not been wearing safety shoes, the toes on that foot very likely would have
been severed. The only damage to the shoes was a small scratch.
He has been accepted for membership in the Golden Shoe Club, a nation
al organization made up of persons who have escaped serious foot injuries
by wearing safety shoes.

Attention Bedspread Finishing
employees - a crisp new one dollar
bill could be yours sometime soon.
The Bedspread Finishing Mill
kicked off a new safety promotion
program on April 1.
The new program consists of brief
safety interviews by supervisors
with individual employees. During
each interview, the supervisor will
give the employee a safety message
and a monthly safety slogan.
Names will be drawn and the em
ployee whose name is picked will be
asked to repeat the safety slogan for
the month. If he or she can do so, a
prize of one dollar will be awarded.
Names drawn will be put back in for
future drawings.
