PROPHECY . . . Continued from Page 4 All at once the stars seem to shine particularly bright in the reflection. Only after I stare concentratedly on the pat tern of the shadows, does it begin to make sense. The stars represent the million and one lights of Broadway. There among them is spelled out glitteringly MICHAEL HOLLAND. So Mr. Green made it. He always did seem interested in musical comedy. I guess he decided the teaching profession would just have to delay its demand awhile. I keep looking into the water. So fas cinating these stories have been, but so far there have been only ten. Who is missing? I remain fixed, waiting for number eleven. Nothing happens. Anxi ously, I turn—there on my right, plain as day! I am startled by my own image. Not much changed, seemingly little older. But ... Do I always do such odd things? I don’t understand why I should sit by the side of the road with an open book in my lap. What’s the book anyway? A diary. But no matter how I try I can’t read the pages. I have no way of know ing what has filled the last ten years. The image rises from the book, and turns toward the road, slowly, feeling the way. “Why?” I ask. “Because,” says I, ”I know not where it leads.” I watch myself move away, realizing that this is the end of a unique and fascinating trick of my mind. Brought back to reality thus, I raise my eyes to the starry heavens and ask, “Please, Father, make them all as success ful and happy as I have dreamed.” JOLENE PARKS Class Prophet For All Your Household Supplies Visit BLACK MOUNTAIN HARDWARE ANSWERS TO PROVERBS 1.
