MISS JUNE KING
The student body of Montreat College
has been very capably led this year by
Miss June King. Miss King, better known
to her fellow students as “June-bug”, is
a bouncy little redhead, aged twenty-one,
and possessing to the envy of all a waist
line just about the same size as her age.
June is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Foy-
ster D. King and hails from Harlan, Ken
tucky. She is a versatile person, having
served on the Board and the Council, and
having been a member of Life Service
Group, Kappa Phi Beta, College Chorus,
and Choir. June is majoring in social
studies and minoring in physical education.
She hopes in the future to be a school
teacher, and feels that one of the outstand
ing things Montreat has helped her in is
her personal spiritual growth. She seems
to like almost everything and everybody
connected with Montreat College. When
asked to comment on her term as pres-
WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
“When you think, when you speak, when
you read, when you write.
When you sing, when you walk, when you
seek for delight—
To be kept from all evil at home and
abroad
Live always as under the ‘eye of the Lord.’
Whatever you say, in a whisper or clear.
Say nothing you would not like Jesus to
hear.
Whatever you read, though the page may
allure.
Read nothing of which you are not per
fectly sure.
Consternation at once would be seen in
your look
If God should say, solemnly, ‘Show Me
that book!’
Whatever you write, in haste or with heed.
Write nothing you would not like Jesus
read.
Whatever you sing, in the midst of your
glees.
Sing nothing that God’s listening ear could
displease.
Wherever you go, never go where you fear
God’s question being asked you, ‘What
doest thou here?’
Whatever the pastime in which you engage.
For the cheering of youth or the solace
of age.
Turn away from each pleasure you’d
shrink from pursuing.
Were God to look down and say, ‘What
are you doing?”
(It is said that the poem was presented
to Chaplain Bass by a prisoner—who is
supposed to have written it—in Kings
County Penitentiary, Brooklyn, N. Y.)
ident of Student Government Association,
June said, “This has been the most ex
citing, wonderful, encouraging, and awe
some year that I have ever known. This
is due, I am sure, to the wonderful stu
dent body we have had this year and the
wonderful support they have given S.G.A.
I have loved every minute of i;.”
EVELYN MORRIS,
President of Student Government Assn.
Stepping into the office of President of
the Student Government Association next
year will be Evelyn Morris. Evelyn is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Morris

and has made herself dear to all our
hearts by her constant interest and help.

a member of Kappa Phi Beta and the
Church Choir, and is a Prayer Group lead
er. She is majoring in Bible and Christ
ian education, and although she is uncert
ain as to a specific job in the future she
is sure it will be a phase of “full time
Christian service”. Evelyn is very fond
of little talks over a cup of coffee at
meals, and loves just everything about
Montreat—even classes. When asked to
comment on her election as president of
Student Government Association she re
plied, “My heart is filled with thankful
ness and appreciation for the confidence
in me which the girls have shown. I al
ready feel assured that living and working
together with the Lord, we’ll have a
wonderful year.”
