Page 2 Aletheia December 11, 1981 Are You Blooming? By Marcia West “Bloom where you’re planted.” What does that really mean? How can it apply to my life? Last year, this saying came to have profound meaning for me. The first semester of my freshman year was really difficult. I came to M-AC with expectations of having many different things to do all of the time. As some of you may have realized. . . life does not come all wrapped up on a silver platter. You must bloom where you’re planted. I realized last year that I have no reason to complain about activities on campus, etc., unless I get in volved. While I was struggling with all of this, our dear Lord was so patient with me and gently taught me that I am call ed to serve Him wherever I may be. Many times in life, we may not be in the ideal city, job or school, but does that mean that you have the right to dampen the light that God has given you? Absolutely not!! God needed you, so He made you. He needs you wherever you are or whatever situation you might be in. If any of you are feeling dissatisfied with your life right now, I challenge you to “Bloom Where You’re Planted.” I challenge you to “let your light shine” and get involved. Do ing this will make all of the difference in the world. Getting involved certainly changed my attitude. Montreat is indeed my “home” now, and God is promoting the blooming. It’s time, at last, to study. To cram with sweating brows. Or to rejoice in all our efforts To take our final bows. Typewriters make their presence More evident every day More zombies will emerge; No more sleeping, no more play The library will be crowded But that's the way it goes; Students begin to realize Studying in bed just makes them doze No need to get upset. That only makes it worse Finals can be a blessing. If we keep first things first! So why should we complain, When it won't change a thing; Besides, it'll all end soon. And EVERYONE can sing! Of the great semester we had. And of how much we know, 'Cause we studied our little hearts out. And home now we can go! EXAM SCHEDULE The New Year With Him Cram Sessions and Typing Lessons — Susan H. Teague This poem is just an encouraging reminder that exams begin tomorrow and that day of reckoning has come. Read it and laugh, but study hard and prepare well!! It's exam time again. The whole school’s in a tizzy The Holiday's approaching, M-AC brains are actually busy! With exams beginning tomorrow. It’s important that we learn The ABC’s of finals. So good grades we can earn Mr. Adams has his unit circle All ready for his Trig class; Miss Brousseau's got her Bible; And Crawford has the past All laid out for good students Across our campus far and wide They really care a lot. So in our studies, let’s take pride! Saturday, December 12 12:00- 2:30- Monday, December 14 Tuesday, December 15 by Bobby Stone We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! This season of the year is always a thought-provoking one. Christians dwell on the birth of their Savior and then look ahead to the new year while evaluating the ac complishments of the preceeding one. But far too often Christians do not dwell indepth on exactly what Christ has accomplished for us during this blessed season of the year. “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.” That is the true meaning of Christmas. That was Jesus’ pur pose for being born into the world — to deliver us from Satan’s power and give us renewed fellowship with the Father! God’s children should begin to realize and rejoice in this season that we are no longer children of the darkness but rather children and partakers of the light. We have been born into a family of love, hope and cheer in a world downcast with loneliness, dread, and sorrow. We are priviledged people indeed! Satan’s world of death no longer has any part in us. He can no longer use us for his destruction nor work his destruction in our lives. We are honored partakers of eternal life! The Father truly has lov ed us through the birth of His Son. But not only has He given us reason to rejoice in the pre sent season but He has given us power to face the year ahead with boldness and confidence. “His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms.” {Eph. 3:10). God has given us dominion over the wicked one to reveal to him the wisdom of God just as Jesus did in the wilderness temptations. God says there is therefore now no condemnation. Satan says you are guilty. It is your priviledge to voice to him the wisdom of God and obtain victory in your life over his wiles. You are a man....You are a Spirit-filled man....You are a man full of light from God....You are a man stronger than Satan....You are a winner! Let us maintain the same hopeful attitude which the Apostle Paul possessed and forget what lies behind and reach forward to what lies ahead which God has obtained for us through His Son, Jesus Christ. 2:00 C 4:30 D & Chemistry 8:00 - 10:00 E 10:30-12:30 F 1:30- 3:30 G 4:00- 6:00 B 8:00 - 10:00 H 10:30-12:30 A&l 1:30- 3:30 J&K 4;Q0 - 6:00 , Conflicts ALETHEIA Montreat’Anderson College Montreat, NC 28757 Editor-in-Chief Karen Oglesby Adviser Dr. Rich Gray Photographers Chris Durrance Greg Hasek David Nicolaysen Cartoonist Chris Gybrgy Layout Editor Kim Knight Reporters Bobby Stone Marcia West Laura Bass Susan Teague Linda Fross News Services MA Graphics & Typesetting Mountain Media,.Inc.
