This week’s Homecoming
activities wili cuiminate
Saturday night at the dance
with the crowning of the
Homecoming Queen and
the Maid of Honor. The
Homecoming Queen wiii be
seiected from six
sophomores nominated by
the men of Howerton and
Davis. Likewise the Maid of
Honor wili be chosen from
six freshmen.
The nominees for
Homecoming Queen are:
Janet BIckett — Janet is
from Matthews, NC. She is
19 years oid, stands 5’7”
tail, and has light brown hair
and green eyes. She enjoys
shooting, swimming,
cheerleading, hiking with
J.B., and chocolate chip
cookies.
Vickie Cromweii —
Vickie, from Conneily
Springs, NC, is 19 years oid
and stands 5’8” with brown
hair and brown eyes. Her
hobbies are singing,
reading, and piaying jacks in
the hail.
Eve Geer is a biue-eyed
blonde from Thomasville,
GA. She stands 5’3” and en
joys horseback riding, swim
ming, dating, and telling
people when quiet hours are
in effect.
Hoiiy Manry from Edison,
GA, says, “I refuse to tell
you how tall I am on the
basis of sexual discrimina
tion.” She is, however,
5’5V2” tall with blonde hair,
green eyes, and four miss
ing teeth. Her hobbies in
clude reading, swimming,
drinking different kinds of
teas, and “...playing with my
brilliant, sweet, handsome
four-year-old brother (discar
ding all prejudice).”
Eadie Shawver from
Laurel, MS, stands 5’10” and
has brown hair and brown
eyes. She enjoys water ski
ing, horseback riding, corn
dogs, and Russ DeLong.
Eadie hopes to “...glorify
God not only with the
Homecoming Court, but
with every action I have for
the whole year.”
Kim Switzer — Kim is a
brown-eyed blonde from
Tampa, FL. She is 5’4” and
enjoys cross-stitching and
sailing.
Candidates for Maid of
Honor are;
Aliison Beit — Allison is a
blue-eyed blonde from
Charlotte. She enjoys play
ing tennis, smiling, and
bear-hunting, and is an avid
fan of Montreat soccer and
Clemson football.
Dee Fisher from Albany,
GA, Is 5’4” with brown hair
and blue eyes. Dee is into
broadcasting, swimming,
water skiing, and writing.
Sarah Horne is a 17-year-
old from Wilmington, NC.
She has light brown hair and
blue eyes. Her interests in
clude tennis, sewing, and
horseback riding.
Jackie Out taw from
Florence, SC, is 18 years
old. She stands 5’6” tall and
has light brown hair and
brown eyes. She plays the
violin and the guitar. Jackie
also enjoys playing softball.
Karen Wilkerson enjoys
singing, reading, picnics,
being around people, and
feeding fish with Allison.
She hails from Huntersville,
NC, and stands 5’4”. She
has light brown hair and
blue eyes.
Beth Anne Wright is a
green-eyed brunette from
Atlanta. She enjoys hiking,
tennis, football, drawing, be
ing a “valley girl”, and talk
ing about herself. She is
5’11” tall.
Pam Jones, the 1981
Homecoming Queen from
Tampa, FL, will return Satur
day to crown the new queen.

Stage Set For Excitement

The stage is set for excite
ment! The countdown to
Homecoming is steadily
ticking away. The Montreat-
Anderson College alurrmi
are going to have the times
of their lives as they embark
upon their heavy but fun-
filled schedule. For the
alumni. Homecoming is a
time to reunite with their
friends, old classinates and
teachers. It is also a time to
return to the mountains of
western North Carolina dur
ing the beautiful fall season.
The Honor classes (the
classes ending in the
numbers 2 and 7) and all the
four-year college classes
will have a special reunion.
Five members from the
class of 1932 and fifteen
members from the class of
1942 will be attending the
Homecoming festivities.
Collectively, alumni will be
traveling from Georgia,
North Carolina, South
Carolina, West Virginia,
Maryland, Tennessee,
Washington, D.C., and even
as far as Washington state.
Former Dean, Dr. Margaret
Spencer, and Assistant
Dean, Margaret Wade, from
1930-1940 will also be pre
sent.
The Montreat-Anderson
alumnists will be merging
into the fast lane beginning
Friday, October 8, at 3:00
p.m. At that time, they will
begin checking in at the
lodges. Dinner will begin at
6:00 (everyone on their own).
The night will shift into high
gear as a square dance
begins in the “Barn” at 8:00.
Certainly, a foot-stompin’
good time is going to be
staged!
The schedule of events
for Saturday begins at 9:00
a.m. with a coffee at the
home of Dr. Silas Vaughan,
President of Montreat-
Anderson College. An
Alumni Association meeting
will be held in Gaither
Chapel at 10:30. At 11:15 in
the gymnasium, a reception
is planned for yesterday’s
and today’s men and women
athletes. Also at 11:15, the
Lady Cavaliers will be mat
ching Tusculum in an inter
collegiate volleyball game.
The annual luncheon honor
ing alumni will be enjoyed at
1:00 p.m. According to Dr.
Cora Wayland, Director of
