That t i m» o-f year is here
once again, and everyone's
talking about it. I-f you
haven't -figured it out
already, Homecoming weekend
starts on Firday, October H.
The -festivities kick o-f-f with
a women's voileybatl game
(alumni vs. students) at
4:00. At 8:00, a square dance
wilt be held in the barn.
Saturday's activities will
include: Basketball
Exhibition and reception in
the gym at 11:30, soccer game
vs. Young-Harris at 3:00 in
the soccer -field, and the
Homecoming Dance at 9:00 on
the 3rd -floor o-f the Be 1 k
Campus Center. Mrs. Anderson
has coordinated all o-f the
student activities during
this exciting weekend.
The Homecoming court -for
1985 consists o-f -four
sophomores and -four -freshmen.
Running -for Homecoming Queen

tiomecoming S3
Homecoming week was -filled
with so many di-f-ferent
activities, sometimes we all
need to unwind a little bit.
On Tuesday, the dress code
-for the day was "Tacky
Tourist"; Wednesday was
"Formal Day", Thursday was
"Hall Dress Alike Day", and
Friday, everyone will display
their spirit by wearing the
school colors. This added
spirit to Homecoming and got
everyone involved in all o-f
the ac tiVities.
Out o-f all the activities
that are going on this week,
we shouldn't -forget to give
God praise in everything we
do. Sometimes we can get so
carried away with what's
happening around us, we don't
pay attention to what's
really important in our
lives. There will be a lot
o-f laughter this weekend,
maybe a -few tears, good
-fellowship with old friends
who have moved on to other
things, and probably a lot of
new friends. We need to let
God be the center of this
Homecoming celebration, and
i f we do that, we are sure to
have a fantastic time.
One of the best things
about Homecoming weekend is
that many sophomores will be
visiting a lot of their
friends from last year.
Alumni are still a big part
of Montreat-Anderson, and
this weekend, there will be
many activities just for
them; Saturday morning at
10:00, there will be an
Alumni Association Meeting in
Gaither- Chapel. At 1:00, an
alumni indoor picnic will be
held for them. Of course,
the ball game will be a big
event for alumni assembly in
Gaither Chapel at 7:30. At
8:15, there will be an ice
cream social. Alumni of the
four-year- college will be
honored at this event. The
SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
charoe for this is $1,00 per
person. The Homecoming Dance
should be a great time of
fellowship and "catching up"
with old friends. It will
also be a great time for
students to meet some of the
alumni of former years.
The weekend will be
windino down with Sunday
School’at 9:30 a.m. (Alumni
Sunday School taught by Dr.
Alan Sparks) and the worship
service in Gaither Chapel.
Dr. Calvin Thielman will be
delivering the morning
message. The afternoon will
be a "winding down" time,
where all of the alumni will
say goodbye and look forward
to another great Homecoming
in 19861

SCA PRESS RELEASE
Tension has lifted,
minds have eased and final
decisions have been made.
It's time to quell the
rumors. Yes, fellow
students, it's true. On
October 30th at 8:00p.m. in
Anderson Auditorium
approximately 3,000 Christian
music lovers will enjoy the
awesome sights and sounds of
Grammy Award winning
songwriter and singer Michael
U. Smith.
Due to his collaboration
with popular Christian Artist
Amy Grant, Smith's own
talents as a composer and
performer were brought to the
attention of the public.
Smith served Grant's band as
composer. Keyboardist, band
leader and backgound
vocalist. His talents were
instrumental in the success
of Grant's concerts during
his years with the band.
Since that time Smith has
come to enjoy hie own success
as a solo artist. His solo
works include; "Michael U.
Smith Project," "2," and his
most recent endeavor to be
released in the near future.
The concert, sponsored
by the Student Christian
Association, has .-b#en an
enormous undertaking that the
SCA feels is well worth the
effort. The Associations
Large Group Coordinator, Greg
Howard states, "We would like
to see more concerts of this
calibur take place at
Montreat-Anderson and the
possibility of future
concerts will depend in part
on the success of this
concert." Not only does the
iMlcheal U.Smlch In concert,Oct.30th
SCA expect great Christian
entertainment; they
anticipate a spiritually
powerful message in Smith's
ministry. In relation to
this Howard says, "It's gonna
be a lot of fun and that's
great! 1 mean, since when did
having a good time in the
Lord become a sin? And, I'm
sure that Michael's message
will come through Loud and
Clear!"
Those attending the
concert can expect to hear
the best in contemporary
Christian music, performed by
a top notch band and
highlighted by an outstanding
light show. Performing along
with Smith will be Kathy
Troccoli and Billy Sprague.
