A cold wind blew into the
face of Joseph Taylor as he
shut and locked the front
door of their new brick home.
It was an overcast day, and
large, dark clouds could be
seen on the horizon. He
helped his pregnant wife into
the car, and they were
prepared for that final trip
to the hospital. The timing
was lousy, for it was just
three days before Christmas.
Mary was prepared thoughj she
had planned everything just
after her first visit to the
doctor's office.
Joseph looked into Mary's
face. In it he saw concern.
"Are you sure this is It?" he
asked softly.
"i can't tMnfC of 9 l»etter

Christmas. I know this is
what you want,” she said
painfully as she forced a
smile.
Joseph was unable to look
at her again; he knew that
the tears whe wiped from her
eyes were of pain, not joy.
As Joseph continued to drive,
a heavy rain began to fall.

hospital, two nurses helped
Mary into a wheelchair.
After they had signed a few
forms, Joseph kissed her, and
she was pushed into an
operating room.
Joseph walked
forth nervously
waiting room. He
notice how 1ong it
when a nurse appeared anJ
told him to follow her.,
"How is she?" he asked as
he entered the small room.
This was not a regular
operating room; the others
were being used.
“You can relax now, Mr.
Taylor," the doctor said.
"The abortion was a success."
