KEEPING UP WITH A JONES MR. MARTIN CLARK, PROFESSOR IN MATH MEET MARTIN CLARK CYNTHIA BUR6ESS I wonder how many people out there in Newspaper Land have ever felt they had to keep up with the Jones'? I have met a Jones that has proven It would be difficult. The Jones I am referring to Is our own Dr. Jones, the head of the Business Administration Department, and a new addition to liontreat-Ander- son College. To keep up with Dr. Jones, one would first have to have a wife and four children. This, for the majority of us, would be quite Impossible to even begin to keep up withi He has one daughter and three sons, one of which Is Ken, a freshman this year on campus. His wife works In our library, and both most likely walk to work, since they live only about one hundred yards from the library. To be a Jones In this case, Is to have taught English for twenty-four years. Now frankly. I'm having enough trouble with writing this one article, let alone teaching an English class! Another difficulty one would have with trying to keep up with Dr. Jones Is that he Is the proud grandparent of twins. I wonder how many Jones' can boast of that? Dr. Jones has plenty of stories he can tell because not only has he lived the life of a teacher, but he also has lived the life of a Colonel In the United States Military. A lover of Montreat, Dr. Jones has been here summer after summer.-,^ He happened upon his present position while reading the Presbyterian Survey. He says he's "doing what I want to do, where I want to do It," but there Is one problem. Of all the beaches, sunny days and Florida memories, the one thing Dr. Jones misses Is his Florida Gators. Well, welcome to Montreat Dr. Jones! Maybe In time he'll get tar on his heels, and the Jones' will be keeping up with the Carolinians. GARRETT 5TANFIELP We would like to recognize one of our newer members of the Montreat-Ander- son teaching faculty: Mr. Martin Clark. Originally a Mountain Retreat vacatloneer from New Jersey, he decided to look into college education at Montreal. His main goal was to retire from his job at AT. 8 T. and come down to Montreal to teach as a mathematics professor. At first there weren't any openings. But last summer, he finally received one (an offer) after prayer about whether to become a teacher. At this, he retired and moved down to Montreal. Looking back, Mr. Clark says that his Christianity has been with him from his childhood onward. But, he also states that his true spiritual growth started with his decision to go to a church that preaches the true Word. From what can be seen, he Is a true Christian and a good teacher for which God should be thanked for sending our way. lilllB QQiIIDlDDQ QTiJG][?[? n]][|D,CSG]K]IIQ m tDQA [oasDUDcaQ QnoBacaD . 4l MR FRAZIER JONES.
