Evangelism Ministry On
The Student Christian Assoication on campus is
divided into nine different sub-ministries. One of Uiese
is the Evangelism ministry which is headed up by
Mickey was appointed by the SCA at the end of last
semester. The former President of the SCA. Rick
Franks, offered Mickey the position. At that time
though, Mickey was running for an office In the S6A
Both seemed appealing to McKinney but he was
awaiting the outcome of the S6A elections. He was
praying for the Lord's guidance in the situation. When
he was defeated in the S6A elections, he took it as a
sign to more prayerfully consider the SCA position.
For about the next week. Mickey prayed abut the open
position and then decided to take the Evangelism post.
In taking the Evangelism post, the SCA left it open to
Mickey's ideas, McKinney says the former Evangelism
leader, Valerie Morgan, was helpful in giving McKinney
information and ideas.
To start off the Evangelism group, McKinney first
held a prayer meeting during the first few weeks of
school. Praying before and after "going out into all the
world" seems to be an important part of the
Evangelism ministry, The tradition has continued and
every Tues. night at 6;00pm Mickey meets with the
Evangelism group and "anyone who would like to come
support us in prayer," he adds, to pray for the
ministry, the people involved and the world situation.
There are 6 or 7 dedicated students, besides
McKinney who meet every Sat, at 3:00pm to go on the
Evangelism excursion. Usually there are also 3 or 4
more who also attend.
The team usually goes into downtown Asheville to
witness, talk, and pray with people, There they meet a
large diversity of the population; bums, street people,
shoppers. Agnostics, Christians, and Jewish people.
Another group of people that are sometimes met are
the homosexuals, "which really challenged me ... and I
grew in a sense because [I realized] God loves all
people, McKinney slated.
All people are not receptive to the students. One Sal.
a student at M-AC was pushed by a person they tried
to approach. Some of the students talk to the people
one on one, others gather little groups together and
have a "mini-sermon" out on the street. Not only do
they witness to people who aren't Christians but
sometimes they pray with those who are backslidden
or just need encouragement.
The Evangelsim team has been enjoying the "fruits of
their labor." Several people the group has talked to
have been saved, an average of 3-6 every weekend.
McKinney comments, "That is the work of the Lord.
It's nothing we do. Everything is done by the grace of
God." But McKinney also adds, "To measure
evangelism, you shouldn't count the number of people .
. . if only one person was saved throughout the whole
year, it would be worth it."
Some of the Evangelism ministry's long-range goals
are to plan and perform a skit for Convocation and to
sponsor a Fla. Beach Evangelism trip over Spring
Good luck you all and Praise the Lord!
GOD, DO YOU LIKE SEX?
This was my question about sex to God.
Yesterday He talked to me,
God has rules. His rules are not our rules. He likes sex, the real sex.
He teaches us how we can use sex. I'm so glad because now I know. He
is quite aware that for us many things are very difficult.
In my country. It Is a tradition to be a virgin until married. But now,
with the new waves, this changes. The young people don't want to believe
m God's rules.
Many limes I ask myself: If when God comes, will He count the virgins?
Many questions, the young people have many questions. We need
God, talk with us again,

Cavaliers Break Losing Streak
Just when you thought it was safe to not go to any
more soccer games, something happens that changes
your mind. “What's the use?", you asked. Then, out of
nowhere, comes the cry, “They won ! They won!"
Could they be talking of our Cavaliers? Had all the hard
work and cheering finally paid-off? Yes it's true!
Montreal's beloved Cavaliers won Tuesday night, They
beat Young Harris with a triumphant score of 4 to 0, A
shut-out! Needless to say, Coach Fredrickson and the
members of the team are excited. This victory has
given them new hope for their future games. Now
more than ever, the spirits are soaring in the hearts of
all the soccer fans. Could this be the begining of a
winning streak? Let's hope so! Let's continue to
support our Cavaliers! Keep the streak!
