Photo by Michelle Thomas Welcome New Students By AL GOODMAN President, Freshman Class One of the best things about second semester is that somehow everyone and everything changes (except for the student’s opinion of the cafeteria). We are lucky here a Montreat to have not only new students here but also some returning ones from many moons ago. They come form states such as North Carolina, Virginia, Florida, Illinois, Alabama, and some form the country of Japan. Here are the names of the new additions to our MAC family: Kevin and Sue Auman (and baby Abigail), Daniel Ball, Tanya Bryson, Lorinda Butler, Charles Carson, Michael Cook, Jennifer Coward, James Cox, Max Garner, Jody Gooden, Leslie Griffith, Brent Heykoop, Virginia Knoll, Laura Lathan, Yumi Matsuzawa, David Powell, Keith Robinson, Marc Tipton Denise Wade, Scott Wirz and Takeshi Yamaguchi. There is a lot of consideration in someone wanting to transferring into a new and different environment. For Denise Wade, not only was it that her major (Cross Cultural Service) is offered but the Christian community and the lovely view of the mountains. "I believe and feel in my heart that God had a plan for me and drew me here," stated Denise. Along with being in a new surrounding is the difficulty of meeting new people. But for Jody GocwJen he feels the "social adjustment is weird but pretty cool." This junior, who is an English major form Charlotte, NC, heard about Montreat form a friend who attended here while it was a junior college. He hopes to use his degree in some possible form of ministry. Jody feels that "when you surrender to the Lord, you release a burden." For one reason or another, each of us come to Montreat for a purpose. Whether academic, financial, or spiritual reasons, we are here because it will not be too far before we have to enter the realm of the working force.
