The Aletheia, Page 15 Around Town Billy Joel In Charlotte w isatmozd tunn By JIM ELDER Greetings from that far off, and often far out land known as Charlotte N.C. As many of you know, I am now a former, emphasis former Montreat student now assigned to cover life on the outside by our illustrious editor Bob Graham. By the way, you may want to read this carefully...you never know what Bob will put in here! Life on the outside is actually quite dull to be frank. Most of my time is dedicated to that wonderful endeavor known as job hunting. As of yet, all of my efforts have proven fruitless. Many establishments have acquired a stigma concerning men who prefer to wear their hair longer than the average woman. I have yet to understand this I have also discovered since being home that it is quite lonesome. The majority of my companions have left town leaving any social life I may have had completely in the dump, where it will most likely remain until I start back to school here in Feburary. One thing I can’t complain about, however, is the fact that, for the time being, I have no set time that I have to haul myself out of sweet slumber. Well, now that I've completely bored the entire campus with my life, let's check out what's going on in Charlotte and the surrounding areas as far as night life goes. In Charlotte on February 4, Motley crue with Warrant, Bonham, and on March 2, Billy Joel. These are all at the Charlotte Colesium. There are rumors that Rush, Eric Clapton, and Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, and Howe will be coming, on separate dates, to Charlotte but no conformations as of yet. I'll keep you posted or you can call the local radio station, WRFX, at 1-800-366-9970 for further information. At Spirit Square for the Arts in Charlotte, Arlo Guthrie will be performing on February 23. Rush will be at the Greenville Memorial Auditorium on February 17 with Mr. Big. Call (803) 242-6393 for more information on that one. In Atlanta at the Omni, The Cult will be playing on February 21.(404) 577-9600 for more information. Fox Theater in Atlanta will host Tears for Fears on February 2. Center Stage Atlanta February 2, Blue Oyster Cult and Arlo Guthrie on February 17. If you need By KEVIN AUMAN Review Writer Undoubtedly, a large percentage of you have entered the cafeteria only to exit shortly thereafter. If this happens to you and you actually happen to have some cash in your pocket (or your teller card) consider Pepper's Deli in Black Mountain. Pepper's derived it's name from the soft drink Dr. Pepper, and their two dining rooms house one of the most extensive and unusual collection of Dr. Pepper memorabilia in the world. Most of the items you see on display are of museum quality and are on permanent loan by a collector who has spent many years compiling the articles. If you are a history buff or just like old stuff. Pepper’s makes for a great afternoon. The menu includes tickets you can reach me (704) 843-4665...We'll work something out. Well that takes care of the area concerts. One more musical note however. Rumor has it among the various musical circles that the Eagles are getting back together to put out an album and do that world tour thing so be watching for that sometime late this year. I guess that about wraps it all up for now. I'm looking forward to seeing you all as soon as financially possible, but till then keep the faith, to Kristin, keep on rockin', and to Todd Holtet.. spread more dead baby. And remember... he who laughs last, didn't get the joke.
