My parents bought me a boat and I fell in love with Tax and Scholarships Scholarships and fellowships awarded after August 16, 1986, may be partially or fully taxable. He said, "The sheer fact that it is just you and God and your only source of power is the wind which He provides. I look at it like the Christian walk. You try to bridle the wind with the sail of the boat, just as you try to follow God's lead for your life. To me it's very relaxing and serene." In my interview with Sam I asked him what his favorite sailboat was. Sam replied, "My favorite twelve meter racing boat is stars and stripes which won The America's Cup. The type of boat I race on is a Baltic 64, name is Cavalier'." Sam'S favorite sailor overall is Ted Turner, but in light of recent events Dennis Connor is his favorite. The weather is warming up and for those of you who want to start sailing the best places to go would be Lake Norman, outside of Charlotte, or Lake Hartwell in Georgia. But boats like Sam sails on that are 64 feet long would not make it in these areas. For the person who wants to learn to sail there are many schools they can attend. One school that Sam recommends is the Chapman's School of Sailing in Florida. The less expensive route is to take a sailing class form your local Red Cross. For those of you who like to splash a bit in the water but don't want the blisters on your hands that you get from sailing, you can simply charter a boat. For more information check a sailing magazine. Lastly Sam told me about some of the excitement in sailing. "One of the most exciting moves in professional sailing is when you and your competitor are sailing to the leeward mark, and he is just slightly ahead on the port side. You tack off to find clear air, and then you pull up ahead a little and you tack back on top of him preforming a "slam dunk."
