The Aletheia, Page 19 What to Do With Your Parents By TIM PERRY Review Writer If your parents are coming up to visit (check up on) you any time this semester and will be needing a place to stay or if they refuse to come up and see you because they don't like to stay in hotels, I've got a great suggestion. Send them to Abigail's Bed & Breakfast, on Old 70, close to Ridgecrest. For people who aren't comfortable in hotels, and would prefer a home-like atmosphere, it's the perfect place. Mrs. Webb, the owner, says the house was built in 1908 as a boarding house for railroad workers. She's tried to make it as comfortable as possible, so instead of a Victorian mansion filled with priceless antiques, it's more like Grandma's house. There are six bedrooms available, each named after a different member of the family Any one who stays the night will wake up to a massive Grandma-style breakfast as well. Abigail's is open year-round, and rooms are from 45 to 60 dollars a night, leaning toward the lower end of the scale during the off season. That's comparable to any other lodging in the area. Reservations are preferred, since they're already getting booked up for the Summer. I know what you're thinking: "What's there for me?" Well I was just about to tell you. They also sell picnic baskets, and they throw in the food free, so if you'd like to have a picnic on the Parkway with your favorite guy or girl, and you have no earthly idea what to pack, let them do it for you. Call ahead of time and they'll have it ready for you. Mrs. Webb also makes and sells puppets, so if you're into puppetry, stop by and see her. She's a fascinating lady. She'll talk your ear off, and you'll love every minute of it! Bored at M-AC? New Bridge? By HEATHER EDWARDS Contributing Writer It's about that time of year again, when the weather gets damp and cold and there seems to be absolutely nothing to do. Sure, when it snows, we can have snowball fights, build snow forts, or go sledding. However, as you may have noticed, its not snowing. Its just wet. What to do... If you have a car, it is very simple to leave campus and go to Asheville or to the maU. Those of us without a car, that idea poses a problem. So, we'll just stay on campus. There are always the usual things to do like walk around the lake or hike to Lookout Mountain. In this weather? Nah! Let's try something indoors. But what? Go to the library and read a book Listen to music Talk on the phone Hang out with friends (who are also bored) Have a bible study or devotional (by yourself or with a friend) Get some people to play Pictionary or 'Trivial Pursuit Sleep or take a nap Write home (and tell everyone how great it is here) Write an article for the Aletheia Watch TV If all else fails, you could always study and do homework. I mean, after all, that is why we're here. Isn't it? According to Montreat Town Manager Pete Post the bridge that connects Lookout road and Assembly drive is being replaced. "The bridge inspected report showed that the bridge was sub-standard," Post said. "The new bridge will be widen to two lanes and the intersection will be widen. It should take about 180 days to finish the job. However, we are shooting for a May 1st date for completion." Post also said that water and sewer lines under the bridge will be buried in three feet of concrete. Other improvements include sewer improvements and roads being paved in the next five years. t ¥©©[p)©ir@ February Schedule 11th - Greg Howard BCC Mall Area 18th “ Mini-Concerts Matt Auten and Kristine Buckwalter Location - TBA 25th - Video - A Man Called Norman BCC Mall Area In The CONT. from page 7 He won't pass you by. You see through passing glances, it's hard to know what's real. Seek the source of answers. He knows the pain you feel. You look in all directions, each way is falling through. Lookup, look up to Jesus, He reaches down to you. You seek satisfaction, the kind this world can't give. Surrender all desires, there's a better way to live.
