The Aletheia, Page 3 Campus News DC Talk Rocks M-AC By GARY HELMS Concert Reviewer DC Talk started our year out right. I had the opportunity, to spend a day with the "fellas" before the concert. At lunch they took the initiative to find out about me and our college. They were intent on finding out what type of audience the would have. They also took time to share about themselves and their days at Liberty. These best friends know how to have fun and know how to get serious. Combining both describes their concert. The concert was attended by approximately 225 people. They got us moving to the groove early with "Final Days" and "Time To Jam." Their energy and emotion climaxed when they sang their only love ballad, "He Loves Me." Toby, the rapper and leader of the group, made it clear that we as Christians need to exemplify the life of Christ to a dying world. One of the brightest moments of the concert was when they allowed us a preview of two new songs from their album to be released in July. I must admit I like the first album, but if "I Love Rap Music" and "Talk it Out" are any indication of things to come, album, number two will not be an album to pass up. They allowed three people from the audience to come up on stage and display their Beat Box ability. The three (A boy from the community named Tony, a former student named Paula Johnson, and our very own Andre Dixon) preformed well, with 'Dre receiving the biggest fan support. When DC Talk signed off with "You Got to Be Saved" the crowd wanted more. It is hard to do an encore with only one album to your credit, but the boys decided to do "Heavenbound" again to finish the night. If you missed this concert you missed, "The best concert of the year." a direct quote form Teri Gladson. If you have any doubts, ask the three girls who decided to share the stage with the band (not giving any names Jodi, Cheri, and Yvonne.) Plus Minus System Pros and Cons CONT. FROM PAGE 1 3(pts.) X 3(hrs.), and that is 18 points. When added they equal 54 points. Divide this by the total number of hours (15) and -you end up with a 3.6 grade point average. With the new system, percentages do matter and can either lower your average or raise your average depending on the score. Therefore if one of the A's was actually an A- you would only receive 3.66 points for that class. And if one of the B's was a B- and the other was a R+, you would receive 2.66 points and 3.33 pts. respectively. With the new scale your final average would 3.53. As you can see there are some disadvantages, but there are also some advantages. My advice to all of you who have been or are now content with just sliding by—you need to start worlang for the grade if you plan to keep the average. Asa professor once told me "Welcome to College!" By HUNTER STEVENSON SGA President Students are always pushing themselves to improve their grades from a C to a B. Many times that extra effort doesn't pay off because the student has too many points below a B. But now with the new plus/minus grading system, which will be implemented in the Fall of 1990, students .will be rewarded for giving^ CONTINUED ON PAGE 18 Attention Singles and Couples There will be a Valentine’s Dance Saturday February 10,1990 9 p.m. - Third Floor BCC Come on Out and Boogie! 502 W.
