Volume /, Number V "The Truth, The Whole Truth, We Hope" April 24, mo Girls Softball Impressive J By MILES MORGAN Sports Staff Writer The Montreat-Anderson College Lady Cavaliers Softball team, finished with an impressive 18-5 record this season. The team’s co-coaches were Dana Bostic (women’s basketball coach) and Steve McNamara (men’s basketball coach and acting athletic director). “All of our players make a strong contribution to the Lady Cavs wins,’’ Bostic said. “Defensively, it was not unusual for the Lady Cavs to go through the batting order two or three times in a single inning. Each player sparked the Lady Cavs with key hits at some point during the season. “We got some crucial base hits, plus we had some power hit ting,’’ Bostic said. “We jumped off to an 15-0 start and I think that was a school record. I was pleased with the team’s performance and so was Coach McNamara.’’ The team consisted of Amy Adams in left-field. Boo Berry (catcher), Tammy Bryson (right cen ter), Debbie Crain (third), Carol Fox (second), Tracy Jones (pitcher), Di ana Klima (right-field). Grade Mann (shortstop), Cindy Roper (right-field), Tari Terrell (left-center), Michelle Thomas (first), and Christy Weaver (center and right-field). “Grade was our strongest and most consistent hitter,’’ Bostic said. “She batted cleanup for us. Also, Tari was our lead-off hitter and she got on base a lot and made things happen for us.’’ To show just how awesome the Lady Cavs were most of their games were called at the end of the fifth inning because of the 10-run rule. That rule states that if a team is leading by 10 runs at the end of the fifth inning the game was complete. Jones was strong on the mound. She hurled eight shutouts which was a school record also. “We had a lot of fun,’’ Bostic said. “I think the girls deserve a lot of credit because they represented Montreat-Anderson College is a very positive manner.” Blast From the Past Compiled by SARA SWINSON and JUDY DAVIS Staff Writers Talk about changes —here is one for you!
