Tage J^our, TJie MetfUia Cavalier Basketball Update The Lady Cavaliers de feated Covenant i College in an ex hilarating game on Monday Feb. 19. Throughout the course of the game the Lady Cavs kept the pace with a good margin above Covenant, and de feated them with a final score of 78-67. This victory was the first in the N.C.C. A. A. District Tournament. If the Cavaliers win the next game they will move into the semi finals. The next la dies' tournament game will be Tuesday , Feb. 20, against King College at Bristol Term. The Cavaliers hope to return to campus with another victory under their belt. As one Montreat stu dent stated, "They played better than I've ever seen them play—it was a great game!" Players of the Cavalier team also felt they performed well; as Judy Davis stated, the game was "Incredible!" We played real well as a team. Every body was into it." Saturday, February 16, the Cavalier men's bas ketball team lost to King College by 21 f )oints. Although de- eated, this game was highly exciting and showed many as pects of the team's basketball skills. Fans are encouraged to at tend the next home game which will be Saturday, Feb 23, at 3:00p.m. against Lou- isburg. Before we may do so, we need a brief statement of details which might be com piled into an article. These would notonlypointoutfaults, but also offer solutions to these inconviences. One might also remember that all mischiev- eious damage inflicted to col lege buildings require time from the maintence crew, who might other wise be working on,or repairing theafore men tioned fs'oblems. Originally from Virginia Beach, VA, Dr. King along with his wife and four chil dren, now call Black Moun tain home. Dr. King stayed involved in athletics in his youth, more specifically surf ing. Can you imagine Dr. King saying: "That was one rad tube. Dude!" He attended Virginia Tech, where he had intended to earn an engineer ing degree. Instead, he ended up receiving a degree in English Literature. He went to graduate school in South Illinois University at Carbon- dale, Illinois. Dr. King first became interested in literature in the 8th grade, where he enjoyed reading Sher-' lock Holmes and the works of Edgar Allen Poe. At that Naj Alicea cause as he teaches, he UpFront and Personal f^^m thrsti- ' ■ ■ ■ dents them- time, never did he think he would become an English teacher. Dr. King came to Montreat-Anderson in 1974, and taught here for five years before deciding to get his PhD. in 1979. He attended the University of North Caro lina at Greensboro for one year before returning to teach. He completed his graduate work in 1985. He says that this was a challenging expe rience for him. Dr. King enjoys teaching at Montreat because of the student body. He calls him self a perennial student, be- selves. He enjoys working with his colleagues and being around many Christian brothers and sisters. Dr. King has other inter ests besides literature and teaching; like playing tennis and gardening-he loves beau tiful flowers. His personal yearly goal is to write a pro fessional article and get it published. He's also part of the C.S. Lewis Society. Dr. King has certainly done a lot to inspire many students. He is truly a favor ite among all of us.
