Tagc 'iJiree/Uie Metfuia Accompianist Examines the GA's By: LovandaFast Guest Writer When I first joined the GA's last semester, I discov ered that I was the only fresh man, which meant that ev eryone knew everyone else. First semester, our bases were David Kellam and Thys Musengwa; tenors were Matt Auten and Tom McMurtry; altos were Stephanie Hopkins, Debbie Barr, and myself when I didn't play; and the sopranos were LeAnn Beach and Heidi Osier. This semester Charlie Wilson took Thys' place and Marcy Buck ner took Heidi's. It was nice to no longer be the youngest in the group since Marcy is also a freshman. We have had alot of fun throughout the year in prac tices and concerts, but the highlight of the year was the Spring Tour. For ten days we crammed into two of the school vans, along with our soundman, and driver, Gary Montgom ery, and our other driver Stuart Nanney. We traveled through North Carolina, Vir ginia, Maryland and Wash ington DC. If you're wondering if all we did was sing, you're defi nitely wrong. One day we stopped at Dave's cabin at thelakeandtookiteasy. Well, some of us took it easy. Oth ers of us, not to mention names, Gary and Charlie, went hydrosurfing and. wa terskiing behind Dave's boat in rather chilly weather. We also visited Wil liamsburg where we ran into Bob Graham and Mark Neil. We spent a full day in Wash ington DC where LeAnn, Marcy and 1 had a fun time searching the Museum of Natural History for Stephe- nie's umbrella which she had left in the Gem and Mineral Section. If any of you ever want to see videos of our adventures, just talk to Stuart. It never failed, where you found Stuart you found his video camera on and running. He would ?et in on the wind shield while driving and film mile after mile of the road. Midway through our tour, LeAnn'sTeddyBear was stolen and held hostage by some unknown kidnapper who also owned a video camera. Her bear kept ap pearing in the videos, tied up and gagged in various places we had visited. The night before we headed back, her bear was returned unharmed by this kidnapper, who I'm sureyou can guess wasStuart. Through all of this we were still singing almost ev- eiy night at various churches and then staying in the homes of people in the church. We not only enjoyed the fellowship with others but with each other. We became closer to each other and be came almost like a second family. Now graduation is approaching and the end of the school year, we'll have to say good-bye to Matt and to David. But even though we may not all be together again, our memories will live on and the times we spent together will never be forgotten.
